University Of Georgia Mark Richt Pays Tribute To Deceased Recruit
University of Georgia head football coach Mark Richt, along with two of his top football recruits Jay Rome and Malcolm Mitchell, paid a special tribute to a deceased Valdosta High School football recruit James Eunice. The 17 year-old Eunice drowned while duck hunting in a nearby lake on Jan. 15 with his body was found two weeks later.
Coach Richt sent a letter stating James had made the team to his family along with a Bulldog jersey with his name on the back. The letter was read at the funeral to which in it the letter acknowledge how Richt had been contacted by Eunice and about his plans to walk on with Georgia’s football team. The family then was presented with a Georgia No. 23 football jersey with “EUNICE” on the back of it while those in attendance at the funeral stood, applauded and cried.
