From up-and-coming bands to some of the most established acts in the music industry, sports titles from 2K Games consistently deliver some of the deepest and strongest soundtrack collections in the video game industry.
In elevating that tradition, the soundtrack for NBA 2K13 will be produced by Jay-Z, and features a number of exclusive tracks from the man himself. Other artists featured on the soundtrack include Kanye West, Nas, Too Short, Coldplay, Daft Punk, and P. Diddy.
“This has been a unique opportunity to collaborate with 2K Sports and be a part of one of the best sports video games in history,” says Jay Z in a statement.
He will also have full control over how the game looks, right down to elements such as in-game menus.
NBA 2K13′s launches Oct. 2 for PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii.
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson will grace the cover of Electronic Arts Sports Madden NFL 13 video game. Johnson was revealed as the winner by ESPN’s “SportsNation” on Wednesday, beating out Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.
Johnson received 52 percent of the 649,510 online votes cast to edge Newton. They emerged as the two finalists on April 18, the penultimate step in a process that began on March 21.
Johnson and Newton were in the initial field of 32 players in a bracket setup, with each NFL team having one representative. In the semifinal voting last week, Johnson “defeated” Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers by a wide margin, 67 percent to 33 percent. Newton had gotten to the final by beating out San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, 53 percent to 47 percent.
Johnson succeeds last year’s surprise winner for the Madden 12 cover, former Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis. The man nicknamed Megatron will look to shake the megacurse tied to the EA Sports’ honor, one that continued with Hillis.
Hillis battled through an injury-riddled season in Cleveland and wasn’t re-signed as a free agent, landing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Since former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George was the first NFL player to appear solo on the game cover (without now retired TV analyst John Madden) in the 2000 edition, many of the dozen previous “winners” have been plagued by injury or other disappointments on the field.
Johnson is the first wide receiver to earn the cover but fans will need to wait until the end of the preseason to get their hands on the game. Madden 13 is set to be released for Playstation 3 and XBOX 360 on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco told reporters that he plans to move in with a Patriots fan as he becomes accustomed to his new surroundings in Boston.
“I’m going to do something different, I’m actually going to stay with a fan for the first two, three weeks of the season,” Ochocinco said Tuesday after practice. “That should be fun, until I get myself acclimated and learn my way around.”
When asked if he was being serious, Ochocinco replied: “Have I ever lied to you before?”
The wide receiver maintains he has just two qualifications and that is the fan must have Internet access and an Xbox.
Rory McIlroy won the U.S. Open in record setting fashion but the Daily Herald must have been the Open on Xbox because they decided to name John McIlroy the champion on its front page. Kinda makes you think what was the people at the Daily Herald watching since he had virtually lead the tournament from the first day.
Yesterday, we posted the report that the finalist for the Madden 12 cover has been narrowed down to Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick and Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis thanks to your voting. However what most people that aren’t die hard NCAA Football fans know is that they where afforded the same opportunity to vote for the cover of NCAA Football 12. The voting though has ended and the winner is none other than University of Alabama Crimson Tide running back Mark Ingram, who finished 71st in the country in rushing with 875 yards a year after winning the Heisman Trophy.
Ingram beat out Nick Fairley, Jake Locker, and DeMarco Murray in a voting that saw a remarkable low total of only 140,000 votes cast in all. NCAA Football 12 hits stores July 12 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps is coming out with his own Xbox Kinect video game entitled Michael Phelps – Push The Limit. 505 Games has announced that the Michael Phelps experience will be like nothing ever experienced before as it’s a competitive sports journey that sees you slipping into a speedo and diving into one of the most realistic and intense sports simulations ever created. No word if any there will be any hidden levels that you can unlock that allow you to party will friends, take hits from the bong and still keep Subway as a sponsor and sign a deal with Xbox?
Coming March 29 video game console owners will be able to play their Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Master with the brand new exclusive edition of Augusta National. You will now get to play at home on probably the most exclusive course in all of America as EA Sports and Billy Payne, chairman of Augusta National announced that Augusta National and the Masters would be featured in Tiger Woods PGA Tour 12: The Masters.
To add to the authenticity of the game Jim Nantz will do the commenting on your crappy slice.
NBA Jam’s creative director, Trey Smith, revealed recently that not only is former President Bill Clinton a playable character, but also the Beastie Boys, President Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and former Vice President Al Gore.
There is even a team of republicans too with Sarah Palin, former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and Arizona Senator John McCain backing up the elephant. EA wouldn’t reveal how said characters are accessed, but it won’t be long before someone creates a cheat list on the Nintendo Wii with XBox 360 and PS3 versions coming in time for the holidays.
I’m a PS3 guy myself, but the player control functions demonstrated on the Xbox 360 still look pretty ridiculous. Not only can you cross fools over at will, but you can also pull off behind the back dribble moves, in and outs and you can attack the bucket with your players signature gather move.
Madden NFL 11 is just a little over week away from it’s August 10 release date and gamers are getting a first look through the game’s demo on some of the upcoming features which one of them happens to be President Obama. Whether playing it on Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 you’ll make a stop at the white House when you take your team in franchise mode all the way to the Super Bowl and win it all to put the cherry on top of your achievements.
38.8 points, 18.3 rebounds, 15.6 assists per game are stats any NBA general managers would love from any entree in this months upcoming draft. Well they are in luck as the NBA has granted Raleigh McCammon into its draft but his numbers don’t come from a college court or not even the local Y but rather from his XBOX.
What the hell are interns for?
As we posted back on February 7, MLB 2K10 was offering $1 million dto who ever pitched a perfect game in the MLB Today Mode, well Wade McGilberry of Mobile, Alabama did just that.
McGilberry a 24-year-old gamer, bought the game at midnight on the night it came out and on his sixth try on his Xbox in that 24 hours he had the perfect game everyone so sought after. Who did he use to achieve the perfect game? Atlanta Braves Kenshin Kawakami.
“The funny thing is I haven’t even come close since then,” McGilberry said. “There must have been something special about that day.”
The sales of Major League Baseball 2K10 have been better than last year’s game.
Former Boston Red Sox pitcher and current jerk Curt Schilling sold his first video game from his 38 Studios, to EA Studios. His first game is “Project Mercury” a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game like World of Warcraft is a single-player epic role playing game.

Such disgusting news for me to receive on the same day that Final Fantasy XII dropped.
With NBA Jam getting a makeover and returning to shelves near you, news comes that another classic video games is coming out of retirement.

Major League Baseball 2K10 hits the shelves on March 2 and in celebration of it’s tenth anniversary the company is rewarding the first player to achieve a perfect game with $1 million dollars. A rare fet that was accomplished this past baseball season by Chicago White Sox’s pitcher Mark Buehrle and only 17 other times in the 141 year history of MLB. The 2K Sports reward is the largest reward ever to be handed out to a gamer for an in game challenge.
Compete on Xbox 360, Xbox Live, PlayStation 3 or PlayStationNetwork in the MLB Today mode, select from the available matchups, then highlight the “MLB 2K10 contest” option and try your best to pitch a perfect game (no hits, no walks, no errors) before May 1. You’ll have to document your greatness by way of camera or DVR since you will have to send your flawless game to 2K Sports on DVD.
Don’t even think about cheating because 2K Sports has partnered with Twin Galaxies International, the worldwide authority on video game records and provider of scores to Guinness World Records, to keep things on the up-and-up.
