Calvin Johnson To Be On Cover Of Madden 13
Detroit Lions wide receiver Calvin Johnson will grace the cover of Electronic Arts Sports Madden NFL 13 video game. Johnson was revealed as the winner by ESPN’s “SportsNation” on Wednesday, beating out Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton.
Johnson received 52 percent of the 649,510 online votes cast to edge Newton. They emerged as the two finalists on April 18, the penultimate step in a process that began on March 21.
Johnson and Newton were in the initial field of 32 players in a bracket setup, with each NFL team having one representative. In the semifinal voting last week, Johnson “defeated” Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers by a wide margin, 67 percent to 33 percent. Newton had gotten to the final by beating out San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis, 53 percent to 47 percent.
Johnson succeeds last year’s surprise winner for the Madden 12 cover, former Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis. The man nicknamed Megatron will look to shake the megacurse tied to the EA Sports’ honor, one that continued with Hillis.
Hillis battled through an injury-riddled season in Cleveland and wasn’t re-signed as a free agent, landing with the Kansas City Chiefs. Since former Tennessee Titans running back Eddie George was the first NFL player to appear solo on the game cover (without now retired TV analyst John Madden) in the 2000 edition, many of the dozen previous “winners” have been plagued by injury or other disappointments on the field.
Johnson is the first wide receiver to earn the cover but fans will need to wait until the end of the preseason to get their hands on the game. Madden 13 is set to be released for Playstation 3 and XBOX 360 on Tuesday, Aug. 28.

The wide receiver maintains he has just two qualifications and that is the fan must have Internet access and an Xbox.
The Daily Herald Gets Rory McIlroy’s Name Wrong
Rory McIlroy won the U.S. Open in record setting fashion but the Daily Herald must have been the Open on Xbox because they decided to name John McIlroy the champion on its front page. Kinda makes you think what was the people at the Daily Herald watching since he had virtually lead the tournament from the first day.

The voting though has ended and the winner is none other than University of Alabama Crimson Tide running back Mark Ingram, who finished 71st in the country in rushing with 875 yards a year after winning the Heisman Trophy.

There is even a team of republicans too with Sarah Palin, former President George W. Bush, former Vice President Dick Cheney and Arizona Senator John McCain backing up the elephant. EA wouldn’t reveal how said characters are accessed, but it won’t be long before someone creates a cheat list on the Nintendo Wii with XBox 360 and PS3 versions coming in time for the holidays.
NBA 2K11 Controls Trailer
I’m a PS3 guy myself, but the player control functions demonstrated on the Xbox 360 still look pretty ridiculous. Not only can you cross fools over at will, but you can also pull off behind the back dribble moves, in and outs and you can attack the bucket with your players signature gather move.

XBOX User Enters NBA Draft
38.8 points, 18.3 rebounds, 15.6 assists per game are stats any NBA general managers would love from any entree in this months upcoming draft. Well they are in luck as the NBA has granted Raleigh McCammon into its draft but his numbers don’t come from a college court or not even the local Y but rather from his XBOX.
What the hell are interns for?
