Twitter & ESPN Strike Deal
If you like sports highlights but spend more time on social networks than watching TV, Twitter and ESPN are going to do their best to meet your needs.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Twitter and ESPN plan to announce a deepening of their existing relationship, agreeing on a pact under which the leading sports channel will unveil a wide variety of highlight clips in its tweets. The videos would be available on Twitter “shortly after” they take place live.
Naturally, the new arrangement which expands on a pact signed in December under which ESPN began embedding replays of college football highlights into its tweets is all about ad revenue. The sports network will place ads inside the clips, and advertisers will agree to purchase a minimum number of promoted tweets related to the highlights, the Wall Street Journal reported. Sports covered under the deal include World Cup soccer and X Games tournaments, according to the Journal.
A Twitter spokesperson confirmed the Journal’s story, and this afternoon, several people in senior roles at the social-networking giant posted tweets linking to it. Adam Bain, Twitter’s head of revenue, went so far as to note in his tweet,
“More news from the upfronts,” referring to the TV network meetings with advertisers that are taking place this week.
The Twitter-ESPN agreement goes a long way to bolstering the theory that Twitter is moving quickly to strengthen its ties to TV networks. Last month, a Bloomberg report suggested that Twitter was in talks with NBC and Viacom about bringing more of those networks’ content to the tweets users see all in the hopes of boosting ad revenue.
And earlier today, the Journal also noted that Twitter and Fox agreed to bring some of that TV network’s video to users via the tweets they see. As with the ESPN relationship, the Fox pact would be built to leverage advertisers’ ability to reach users.
Roy Hibbert Photographs More Weird Things
If you recall Indiana Pacers big man Roy Hibbert was on his way to dinner in Manhattan when he saw a classy gal pooping between two vehicles. After the Pacers’ 93-82 win over the Knicks Tuesday night, Hibbert celebrated with some fine dining in downtown Indianapolis, and was greeted with this totally normal scene: a man walking his pet goat.
“I know we live in Indiana. But this should not be happening outside of a fine dinning restaurant. GOAT!!!!”
Where does Big Roy need to go to have a normal dining experience these days?

The lavish lifestyle has led to many people questioning how he is able to afford all the luxuries despite being a college student. Others
have wondered how he even has time to be a student with all the fun things he seems to be doing.
Manziel responded to some of the criticism he heard over Twitter after tweeting about his golfing exploits:

Richard Sherman Takes Jet Ski To Minicamp
One unique aspect of the Seattle Seahawks practice facility is its location on the shore of Lake Washington.
That allows those with a watercraft an opportunity to see what’s happening on the practice field. Even one of the players.
Seattle All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman decided to take in some of the Seahawks’ rookie minicamp on Friday from a jet ski parked in the lake.
Sherman had tweeted earlier in the day his intention to jet ski over to the facility, and about an hour into the practice showed up just off shore.
“Gonna ride my Jet Ski up to watch the rookies from the Lake”
“Watching the rooks from the Lake”
Sherman hung out for about 30 minutes, drawing the attention of photographers on shore and posing for pictures with other onlookers in boats near the facility.
Kliff Kingsbury Leaves Texas Tech Players Note
Texas Tech offensive lineman Alfredo Morales tweeted the photo you see above on Tuesday, which shows a letter head coach Kliff Kingsbury sent to all of his players before they went home for summer break.
“Also we advise you to be active over break as you will need to be ready to work once June rolls around,” the note read. “Sitting at the house playing COD/2K13/Madden against 12 year olds online doesn’t suffice as ‘activity’ even if you claim to ‘wreck shop.’”
Cincinnati Reds In-Flight Menu Fit For A King
Dallas Latos, wife of Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Mat Latos, tweeted out the in-flight menu for the team’s charter, which she doesn’t get to ride on often.
The menu is divided into four sections: Pre-Departure Snacks, Dinner Selections, Snacks, Beverages. It doesn’t say as much, but presumably the format implies that the second set of snacks is for after the plane has departed.
Pre-departure snacks include personal pizzas, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, California rolls, and shrimp cocktail.
For dinner, Latos, Brandon Phillips, Joey Votto and all the Reds can select from fried shrimp with macaroni and cheese and grilled haricots verts, chicken stir fry with jasmine rice and vegetables, baked lasagna, a bleu cheese and spinach entree salad with a grilled beef fillet on top, or cheeseburgers.
After dinner, there’s ice-cream bars, ice-cream sandwiches, caramel corn, fresh fruit and cheese, candy bars, and more.
The menu detailed above was for the Reds’ flight from Chicago to Cincinnati. That trip takes about an hour.

Naturally, rumors have run wild about who the network may tab to replace her. Well, all of that speculation could come to an end soon when NBC makes what they referred to as a “major talent announcement.”
The network sent out a press release Monday stating that an announcement involving Sunday Night Football is set to be made at approximately 4 p.m. Tuesday.
Then came the following tweet from country music star Carrie Underwood:Could she be alluding to a partnership with SNF?
“Just to let you know, we have some great news that we’ll be sharing tomorrow! I’m really excited about it! Stay tuned.”
We shall know the answer for sure by Tuesday evening.

The Philadelphia Eagles offense is certainly expected to get much faster under new head coach Chip Kelly and the new scheme is apparently inspiring some fun competition at the team’s offseason conditioning workouts.
Eagles safety Colt Anderson broke this news earlier Thursday.
That’s right, a 32-year-old quarterback Michael Vick coming off an injury-plagued season finished ahead of the team’s 24-year-old starting halfback LeSean McCoy.
Then he took the time to rub it in for the world to see.

The “Philadelphia 76ers center continues to experience swelling in his knee, setting back any progress that had been made to this point.
“I don’t really know if I’ll play this year.” This contradicts February 19′s quote, ”I’ll definitely be back sometime this year.” “I don’t want to play in pain.” “I feel like it’s my life. I’m 25 and I don’t want to have no cartilage.”It was clear that things were getting all too real for the city of Philadelphia and its basketball team when the district attorney, Seth Williams, responded to the news.
“How much is he getting paid? Do I need to launch a grand jury investigation?” Williams tweeted.
Williams later tweeted “It could be fraud, theft of services or robbery. Fans and ticket buyers need to know. 10-9-8-76ers!”

Kobe Bryant scolds fans on Twitter
Kobe Bryant, who was fined two years ago for using a gay slur toward a referee, scolded two Twitter users for using homophobic language over the weekend.
He tweeted: “Just letting you know @pacsmoove @pookeo9 that using ‘your gay’ as a way to put someone down ain’t ok! #notcool delete that out ur vocab.”
Bryant was responding to a message from user @pookeo9, a 16-year-old Canadian, and a subsequent response from @pacsmoove.
The first tweet was directed to the @kobebryant handle and read, “Let’s make out in bed Kobe.”
@Pacsmove retweeted that message, adding “you’re gay” to the beginning.
Bryant responded with the admonishment, then acknowledged his past issues with using homophobic language when confronted by another Twitter user.
“Exactly,” he wrote. “That wasn’t cool and was ignorant on my part. I own it and learn from it and expect the same from others.”
Bryant was fined $100,000 in April 2011 for using a slur toward a referee.
Bryant’s tweet didn’t make an immediate impact on the two young men he addressed. The first defended his “joke” and the second said he was “mad as hell” that Kobe embarrassed him.
Father of Alabama signee father arrested after 16 years on run
Many sports fans knew a few things about Reuben Foster. We knew he was a top linebacker prospect and that he got an Auburn tattoo before decommitting and signing to play with Alabama. But many of us did not know that his father was a fugitive who escaped jail in 1996 after being indicted for shooting him and his mother.
US Marshals said they captured Danny Foster, 41, in Miami. He shot his wife, Inita Barry Paige, in 1996 while she was holding Reuben, who was 18 months old at the time. Danny Foster was indicted in Alabama, fled to California where he was caught and extradited back to Randolph County. He escaped jail and has been a fugitive since Dec. 1996. Foster was found in Florida where he had assumed a new identity, living as Jefferson McClendon.
Paige was shot in the back and suffered a collapsed lung from the shooting.
Foster seemed to be happy about his father’s capture. He wrote the following on his Twitter account:
“Tears pooring!!! Never knew him but ain’t nothin like a real father when you keep asking Foster side where your dad at and they lie about!!!”
“I knew he was out there but his family had to be hiding him!! I ask about you daddy every time we was with your family but they said you was dead”
