Can't Wait To Hear Rudy J's Thoughts

A bum knee is keeping Andrew Bynum from playing basketball. So he’s playing hair stylist instead.

WTF: Henrik Rummel

Rudy J Is Not Impressed

U.S. rower Henrik Rummel stepped onto the podium to receive his bronze medal for the men’s coxless four rowing competition and was a tad overexcited which showed in his required uniform.

Jeremy Lin That I Used to Know Song Parody

Nothing like a Gotye parody to get New York Knicks fans over the loss of Jeremy Lin. Rudy J is sure to be a fan of the line:

“You should have played with Carmelo Could’ve won a title and then maybe we’d retire your number.”

Minnesota Timberwolves Sitcom

Who didn’t love ABC’s Family Matters back in that day? That can also be said about this years Minnesota Timberwolves, a team on the verge of doing good things in the NBA.

So Rudy J can have the Sacramento Kings and I’ll take these T-Wolves especially when they have some dude named Darko ‘Skyhook’ Milicic.

Clipper Darrell Forced To Drop Name By Los Angeles Clippers

Clipper Side

Rudy J’s favorite Twitter follow Clipper Darrell has butted heads with his favorite team the Los Angeles Clippers. Darrell Bailey know more to the masses as Clipper Darrell says the Clippers asked him to stop using his longtime nickname.

Bailey, an 11-year season ticket holder announced on his website that the team has asked him to refrain from using the name Clipper Darrell.

“I have been told by Clipper management they no longer want me to be Clipper Darrell, a name that was given to me by the media because of my unwavering support and team spirit,” he wrote. “I am devastated!”

Clippers guard Chris Paul wrote, “WE GOT YOU!!!” Clippers forward Blake Griffin tweeted, “Bring back #ClipperDarrell,” and Clippers center DeAndre Jordan added, “I love you Clipper Darrell&#ClipperDarrell.”

“I’m not feeling too good right now,” Bailey said. “They asked me not to be Clipper Darrell anymore. They don’t want me to dance. They don’t want me to cheer anymore at the games. I can’t be Clipper Darrell. They don’t want me in the suit. They don’t want me to do anything anymore.”

Bailey refused to go into further details. The Clippers issued a harshly-worded statement in response to Bailey’s claims on Wednesday.

“The Clippers have done absolutely nothing wrong or inappropriate as it concerns Darrell Bailey. His claims are absurd and unfounded. He has never been an employee or representative of the Clippers organization, and therefore cannot be terminated,” the team said. “The Clippers have never engaged Mr. Bailey’s services. When he has been in need, the organization has regularly provided him a seat for games. No good deed goes unpunished.

“We have had multiple conversations with him concerning his inappropriate use of the Clippers’ team name and trademark for his own unmonitored commercial gain. We have spoken to him repeatedly about his desire to make public appearances in ways which improperly suggest that he is officially affiliated with our organization. In all cases and over a long period of time, he has consistently rejected our efforts to operate in consultation.

“In a conversation with an authoritative and tenured Clippers’ executive last week, he was asked again to either consult with the team on all public appearances and/or commercial ventures, or stop undertaking those opportunities representing himself inappropriately. His response was an offer to stop representing himself commercially in that way and his offer was accepted in principle. The next thing we heard was the baseless claims he has made today and the ensuing media rush to judgment.

“We hold all of our fans in the highest esteem and we have been patient and generous with Mr. Bailey. He has not returned our support in an honorable way. He is not actually a fan of the Clippers, but a fan of what he can make off of the Clippers. We are no longer interested in that kind of association with him, and that is why we accepted his offer to remove our team name from his stage name.”

This isn’t the first time Bailey and the team have butted heads. Bailey has often complained about the team holding him back and preventing him from securing endorsement deals while the team has been upset that he has sold merchandise and booked public appearances on his website using the Clippers name for years.

Bailey, 44, has been a Clippers season ticket holder since the 2000-01 season and every aspect of his life seemingly revolves around the team. He wears a custom-made suit, half red, half blue to home games. He drives a customized 1995 BMW 740i, painted in red, white and blue with a Clippers logo and autographs on the hood and “CLIPERD” license plates. Even his Los Angeles home, where he lives with his wife and four children, is painted in Clippers colors.

“Clippers Nation made me who I am,” Bailey said. “I didn’t give myself the nickname but I guess the team can take it away.”

Never too early to start planning for Rudy J’s birthday present.

Jason Whitlock Apologizes For Offensive Jeremy Lin Tweet

Rudy J's Two Most favorite People

Fox Sports Jason Whitlock apologized for an insensitive and some called a racist tweet about New York Knicks guard Jeremy Lin, which Whitlock posted after Lin’s 38-point performance against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday.

In a reference to a stereotype about Asian men, Whitlock tweeted, “Some lucky lady in NYC is gonna feel a couple of inches of pain tonight.”

The Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) demanded an apology from Whitlock.

The tweet “doesn’t hold up to the conduct of responsible journalists, those in sports or otherwise, who adhere to standards of fairness, civility and good taste. Nor does it meet the standards of Fox Sports, with which you are associated,” the AAJA wrote on its Facebook page. “Outrage doesn’t begin to describe the reaction of the Asian American Journalists Association (AAJA) to your unnecessary and demeaning tweet.”

Whitlock later wrote on FoxSports.com, “I’ve cried watching Tiger Woods win a major golf championship. Jeremy Lin, for now, is the Tiger Woods of the NBA. I suspect Lin makes Asian Americans feel the way I feel when I watch Tiger play golf.

“I should’ve realized that Friday night when I watched Lin torch the Lakers. For Asian Americans and a lot of sports fans, his nationally televised 38-point outburst was the equivalent of Tiger’s first victory in The Masters. I got caught up in the excitement. I tweeted about what a great story Lin is and how he could rival Tim Tebow.

“I then gave in to another part of my personality — my immature, sophomoric, comedic nature.”

Doug Melvin Channels Adele For Prince Fiedler

Brewers fans are upset and sadden that Prince Fielder will no longer call Milawukee home but they’ve seen the writing on the wall for quite some time now. However the news that it’s actually a reality has hit Brewers general manager Doug Melvin extremely hard and penned this Adele remix for the slugging first baseman who now calls the Detroit Tigers his team of choice.

And in other news Rudy J is extremely pissed that some fan ruined his favorite Adele song with this

Royce Reed Says She’s Quitting Basketball Wives

Crazy TALENT

Royce Reed, the mother of Orlando Magic Dwight Howard’s son, has announced on Twitter that she won’t be back for the fourth season of Rudy J’s favorite VH1 reality show the Basketball Wives. She says it’s because of “artistic differences,” and left a little wiggle room, tweeting, “Things may change but as of now, NO!”

The Orlando Sentinel cattily speculates that Reed may have tired of being a punching bag for Evelyn Lozada, Jennifer Williams and Shaunie O’Neal, who apparently diss her because she’s a former team dancer in Orlando and Miami. Her bio says her goal last season was “to try to debunk the negative stereotype that the wives have against team dancers.”

Meantime, Chad Ochocinco’s fiance, Evelyn Lozada, is iffy about being back. While Meeka Claxton, wife to Speedy Claxton, wasn’t asked back.

Walter Payton Book Says He Abused Painkillers & Had A Mistress

Wonder If Rudy J Will Read

An upcoming biography of Hall of Fame running back Walter Payton by Jeff Pearlman, Sweetness: The Enigmatic Life of Walter Payton, portrays the late Chicago Bears back as an adulterer and an abuser of pain-killers and laughing gas.

A lengthy excerpt from the book posted at SI.com reports that:

Payton was a nervous wreck on the day of his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in 1993, because his longtime mistress had insisted on attending, and was staying at the same hotel as his wife Connie and children. The book says the two women talked after the ceremony, and Connie said, “You can have him. He doesn’t want me or the children.”

Pearlman quotes Payton’s agent, Bud Holmes, saying, “I’d see him walk out of the locker room with jars of painkillers, and he’d eat them like they were a snack.” The book says use of pain-killers increased after Payton retired, and that he “habitually ingested a cocktail of Tylenol and Vicodin.”

During training camp, according to the book, Payton kept tanks of nitrous oxide, or laughing gas, in an RV. The book says he shared balloons of the gas with other Bears players, and that after retirement he kept large tanks of it in his garage.

Before Payton’s death from cancer and liver problems in 1999, the book tells several anecdotes of Payton behaving erratically because of his use of pain-killers. That included threats of committing suicide, according to Holmes and others.

The book will be released October 4. Pearlman, who also has written books on Roger Clemens, the 1986 New York Mets and the Dallas Cowboys.

Luke Walton Joins Memphis Tigers Coaching Staff

Rudy J's Favorite Laker

Los Angeles Lakers Luke Walton is taking a different approach in how he’s handling the NBA lockout as he will become an assistant on the University of Memphis Tigers basketball team. Memphis coach Josh Pastner and former teammate of Walton has recommended Walton fill the vacancy on his staff while he waits for the league to return.

A two-time NBA champion with the Lakers and a veteran of Arizona’s 2001 Final Four squad, Walton will take the second spot that opened when Willis Wilson left to become head coach at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Glynn Cyprien became an assistant at Texas A&M under Billy Kennedy.

“Luke is going to bring great excitement and great energy to the Tigers program, and we’re thrilled to have him,” Pastner said in the school’s release. “Luke is someone who has not only played for but also learned from arguably one of the greatest coaches in basketball history in Phil Jackson. Luke’s also played with and against the best-of-the-best at the highest level of basketball in the NBA, including being a teammate of one of the NBA’s all-time greats in Kobe Bryant.”

“Luke will be a great coach because he brings a wealth of knowledge and a winning attitude to the Tigers program. His experiences, which include playing in four NBA Finals and winning two NBA World Championships, are lessons that he can share with our players to help them grow and develop their games.”

The Arizona connection on the Tigers staff runs deep as Pastner also has Damon Stoudamire on the saff.

Jeff Garlin Is Not A Fan Of LeBron James

For a while now Rudy J has been telling me about some show called Curb Your Enthusiasm that co-stars Jeff Garlin and says it’s absolutely hilarious. Then it turns out Garlin recently made an appearance on Conan O’Brien, Rudy J second favorite comedian of all time, and afterwards provided a little word association that happens to display his dislike of LeBron James.

Still wish Rudy J would explain to me what he he see and why he wastes his time with Conan though, he’s not funny.

Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose Adidas MVP Commercial

At the beginning of the NBA season Chicago Bulls Derrick Rose asked “Why can’t I be MVP?” Which Rudy J said he would be and now adidas has put together this commercial showing why he is.

If you happened to listen to our live show a week ago then you already heard a few of these but a few have been added before today’s first pitch. So here I go (wish Calvin Casey and Rudy J would have participated).

Chicago Bulls Owner Says Team Will Win 4 Titles With Derrick Rose

Sky's The Limit

Former top overall pick and leading MVP candidate, which Rudy J predicted at the beginning of the NBA season, Derrick Rose has the city of Chicago buzzing that basketball is back in the windy city. So much so that Chicago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf made a bold prediciton yesterday that his team will likely win four NBA championships under the Rose helm.

“If you don’t see something special in Derrick Rose, then you’re blind,” Reinsdorf said. “We have an outstanding coach, an outstanding bunch of players, the team is deep, and if we stay healthy we have an awfully good chance of winning at least four championships.”

Hopefully Reinsdorf will be able to see his Bulls achieve somewhere near his four title claim that is if he isn’t talked into breaking up what they’ve built by some general manager again.

Los Angeles Lakers Ron Artest Names His Top 5 Athletes/MC’s

Naturally when AllHipHop.com went to Los Angeles Lakers Ron Artest with the question, “who is in your top 5 athlete MC’s list” his answers would be quite interesting. Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, Deion Sanders, Joe Smith, and Jerry Stackhouse all made Ron-Ron’s cut. While Ronnie Price, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, and Tyreke Evans got an honorable mention.

Been trying to tell Rudy J and Calvin Casey for years that Joe Beast has skills.

Trick Shots Soccer Edition

Obviously University of North Carolina at Asheville Bulldogs goalie Lassi Hurskainen is jealous of Rudy J his soccer skills that he he had to make his own video showing off his accuracy and absurd skills with a soccer ball.

2010 SGE’s Monday Night Football Champion: Salami

2010 MNF Champion Salami

The 2010 Monday Night Football season has come to a close with a back in forth game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons and that means it’s time to for Rudy J to hand the Monday Night Football Championship belt back over to myself. The 2010 season was not even close as I smoked the other guys for the widest margin of victory in the history of Sports Grind Entertainment, and we’ve have been doing this since 2004.

The final records for everyone involved was:

Salami         15-2

Rudy J         10-7

Calvin          7-10

As with every year the winner gets the distinction of being number 1, a round of drinks, and this year gets a brand new Flip MinoHD.

Real Housewife Of Atlanta Kim Zolciak Knocked Up By Atlanta Falcons Kroy Biermann

Don't Be Tardy For The Party

Real Housewives of Atlanta, which happens to be the favorite TV show of Rudy J, star Kim Zolciak is pregnant with her third child by her boyfriend Atlanta Falcons defensive end Kroy Biermann, after just five months of dating.

They met at the Dancing Stars of Atlanta charity event this past May, as chronicled last week on Real Housewives. She has denied the pregnancy in recent weeks, including to Q100’s Bert Show. “I am not pregnant,” and even deflected the question again the other night on Bravo’s Watch What Happens.

Zolciak’s excuse for lying was that she was only eight weeks and had complications with her youngest daughter Ariana and didn’t want to come out so early with the news. But others are saying she kept the news a secret because she was paid by Life & Style magazine for the exclusive story. Life & Style also earlier this year revealed her lesbian fling with DJ Tracy Young.

If your looking to talk and trade all the latest gossip about the Real Housewives of Atlanta then hit up the shows biggest fan Rudy J via email.

Baltimore Ravens Ray Lewis Thinks Thursday Night Games Are Unfair

Rudy J Says We Must Never Forget

The NFL eight-week Thursday night schedule kicks off tomorrow with a game between the Baltimore Ravens and Atlanta Falcons. Ray Lewis, Baltimore’s star linebacker, bashed the schedule according to The Baltimore Sun.

Lewis reportedly said that it’s “part of the business” and added that “99 percent of us would vote against” it. He also compared it to the proposal of an 18-game regular season schedule and explained that it doesn’t help the players.

“You have to ask yourself a real question when you schedule games like this: Who does it help? Because it doesn’t help the players. That turnaround is just too quick,” said Lewis. “You go from playing a physical game on Sunday and you have less than four days before you have to physically get back up again. It takes a week for guys to really heal.”
