1,016 Fans

The New Jersey Nets and owner Mikhail Prohkorov have begun the application process for changing the team’s name. Nets spokesman Barry Baum said the team filed paperwork with the National Basketball Association earlier this week. If accepted, the change would become official before the 2012-13 season, when the Nets plan to move to Brooklyn’s new Barclays Center.

Any NBA team with the intention of changing its name, logo or uniform must apply to the league 25 months before the start of the season in which it intends to unveil the change. The final decision rests with the NBA’s 30-member Board of Directors.

New Jersey Nets Owner Considering Hiring Red Army To Perform

I Must Break You

While flying in his Gulfstream New Jersey Nets new owner Mikhail Prokhorov said he’s in no real hurry to find a replacement for former president Rod Thorn but did say he has thoughts about halftime entertainment. Prokhorov said he was entertaining the idea of hiring the

“Red Army choir to perform at half-time along with Russia’s top dancing bear collective.”

Prokhorov even said tongue in cheek that he might consider hiring the Russian spies recently sent back to Moscow and organizing their comeback tour to Newark.

UPDATE: The New Jersey Nets have hired former Philadelphia 76ers general manager Billy King as their new team president.

2010 NBA Finals Most Viewed Since 2001

Est. 1946

ABC averaged a 10.6 rating and 18.1 million viewers for the 2010 NBA Finals, up 26% in ratings and viewership from Los Angeles Lakers/Orlando Magic last year (8.4, 14.3 mil, five games), up 14% and 21% from Boston Celtics/Los Angeles Lakers in 2008 (9.3, 14.9 mil, six games), and up 71% and 95% from San Antonio Spurs/Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 (6.2, 9.3 mil, four games).

This marks the most-viewed NBA Finals since Los Angeles Lakers/Philadelphia 76ers on NBC in 2001 (19.0 mil), and the second most-viewed since Chicago Bulls/Utah Jazz in 1998 (29.0 mil), Michael Jordan’s last NBA Finals.

This is only the second time since 1998 that the NBA Finals has averaged at least 18 million viewers. This only the second time in the past eight years that the NBA Finals has averaged a double-digit rating.

Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics outdrew the last two seven-game NBA Finals San Antonio Spurs/Detroit Pistons in 2005 (12.5 mil) and Houston Rockets/New York Knicks in 1994 (17.3 mil).

Of the 15 NBA Finals since 1990 that did not involve Jordan and the Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics is the third-most viewed, behind the Los Angeles Lakers/Philadelphia 76ers series in 2001 (19.0 mil) and Houston Rockets/Orlando Magic in 1995 (20.1 mil).

However the Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics ranks as the fifth-lowest rated NBA Finals to involve the Los Angeles Lakers in the past thirty years (15 series). It’s ahead of only Los Angeles Lakers/New Jersey Nets in 2002 (10.2), Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics in 2008 (9.3), Los Angeles Lakers/Orlando Magic in 2009 (8.4) and Los Angeles Lakers/Philadelphia 76ers in 1980 (8.0).

For perspective, the 2010 NBA Finals finished behind the 2009 World Series, which averaged an 14.7 rating and 23.4 million viewers for six games.

The final game of the 2010 NBA Finals saw its largest audience and it was its largest for an NBA game since the end of the Chicago Bulls dynasty.

The Los Angeles Lakers Game 7 win over the Celtics drew a 15.6/27 final rating and 28.2 million viewers on ABC.

This marks the highest rated, most-viewed NBA game on any network since Chicago Bulls/Utah Jazz Game 6 in 1998, topping the previous highs of 14.7 Indiana Pacers/Los Angeles Lakers Game 6 in 2000 and 23.8 million viewers Los Angeles Lakers/Sacramento Kings Game 7 in 2002.

Additionally, this is easily the highest rated, most-viewed NBA game ever on ABC, topping the previous high of 13.8 and 21.8 million viewers for Los Angeles Lakers/Detroit Pistons Game 5 in 2004. This is the first time since that 2004 series that any NBA game has surpassed 20 million viewers.

Despite the big numbers Boston Celtics/Los Angeles Lakers finished behind previous Game 7s in the NBA Finals. New York Knicks/Houston Rockets Game 7 drew a 17.9 on NBC in 1994, Detroit Pistons/Los Angeles Lakers Game 7 drew a 21.2 on CBS in 1988, and Los Angeles  Lakers/Boston Celtics Game 7 drew a 19.3 rating on CBS in 1984.

New Jersey Nets Will Win Championship In 5 Years

Well thats according to brand new New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov. An extremely confident man also by the way insanely rich man and you get a guy that says everything a Nets fan could hope to hear. Prokhorov promises a truly international team that will make the playoffs next year and win a title within five years.

The ability to spend money on your team doesn’t equate to championships, just ask Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban.

Another Former NBA Player Files For Bankruptcy

Young Jezzy Tried Telling You

This hasn’t been the best of years for former NBA players when discussing their fiancees as we learned about the millions that have been lost from Antonie Walker and Derrick Coleman. Now former Detroit Pistons star Rick Mahorn has joined the group after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

Mahorn and his wife had to file after several failed investments, a drop in value of a $500,000 Rochester Hills home they bought and efforts to repay an IRS debt. Public records show that since 2006 the IRS has filed liens for almost $214,000 in delinquent taxes against Mahorn.

Mahorn played for the Washington Bullets,Philadelphia 76ers,New Jersey Nets, and was a member of the Pistons 1989 championship team from the Bad Boys era. He also coached the WNBA’s Detroit Shock before the team relocated to Tulsa, Okla. He is currently the Pistons radio announcer.

Former NBA Player Kendall Gill Returns To Boxing Ring

Who Wrestles In Tims?

Very few people outside of Illinois ties will find this news interesting but former Charlotte Hornets,Seattle SuperSonics,New Jersey Nets,Miami Heat,Minnesota Timberwolves,Chicago Bulls, and Milwaukee Bucks Kendall Gill will be making a return to the boxing ring tonight.

Gill, 41, who’s currently a Comcast Sportsnet basketball analyst will look to improve upon his prefect 3-0 record when he fights at the Chicago’s UIC Pavilion against Miles Kelly, 1-1-0 in a scheduled four round heavyweight bout.

He also has a video crew following him around as he trains for the fight for an upcoming show entitled “Inside the Ropes.” Gill has two knockouts in his boxing career but hasn’t fought since 2005.

Jose Canseco is impressed.

Former NBA Coach Drops F & S Bombs On TV

Lawrence Frank was fired from his job as coach of the New Jersey Nets last November when the team opened the season with 17 straight losses and probably won’t be getting a call from ESPN anytime soon. When Frank opened his mouth to discuss his old team rival, he forgot where he was and referred to Cleveland Cavaliers LeBron James as “that fucker” and also said “shit” on live TV.

Has this guy never seen ESPN or heard of the FCC, what rock does he he live under? The nonchalance way he went about his F this and S that is, was ridiculous.

Former NBA Player Derrick Coleman Loses $87 Milli

I Wonder If Karl Malone Is Laughing At You Derrick?

Former NBA New Jersey Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, Detroit Pistons and number 1 overall draft-pick Derrick Coleman, who made $87 million playing professional basketball, owes his creditors $4.7 million after filing for Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection last month.

The ex-Syracuse University standout and 1991 NBA Rookie of the Year earned tens of millions during a 15-year playing career but listed assets of just $1 million in papers filed with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Detroit. Coleman’s desire to invest in the Detroit area after his playing career ended contributed to his financial problems

Among Coleman’s ventures is a struggling Detroit development called Coleman’s Corner, an attempt to revive one of the city’s most downtrodden neighborhoods. Coleman defaulted on loans related to the mall last year. Colemen’s other business interests include ownership stakes in the Hilton Garden Suites hotel in downtown Detroit, a Tim Hortons Inc. doughnut shop franchise and Hungry Howie’s Pizza store, according to court papers.

Coleman filed for Chapter 7 protection in March but only recently provided details of his assets and debts. The Chapter 7 filing indicates that the onetime New Jersey Nets forward intends to liquidate his assets in order to pay back creditors.

Among Coleman’s largest debts is $1.3 million owed to Comerica Bank in connection with a lawsuit and a $1 million loan on property in Michigan from Thornburg Mortgage Home Loans.

Coleman also owes Detroit mayor and fellow Syracuse legend Dave Bing $50,000 from a loan granted last year.

Among the assets that could be available for creditors his automobile collection, a1957 Buick convertible; a 1970 Chevrolet Nova; and a 1997 Bentley convertible. Also listed where two Seadoo watercrafts, his $90,000 NBA pension and two chinchilla and three mink fur coats.

Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin Player: Manu Ginobili

Manu Ginobili

Every Tuesday Sports Grind Entertainment presents you with the Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin Player of the Week. This week the recipient of this prestigious honor goes to San Antonio Spurs Manu Ginobili who has been simply BLAZIN.

Pretty much you could pick any week during this NBA season and give this award to Ginobili with the season he is having. But Ginobili’s worth to the Spurs this season was never more evident than this past week when he sat out against the New Jersey Nets due to back spasms. The Spurs would go on to lose to a team that night who was trying to avoid tying the 1972-1973 Philadelphia 76ers for the worst team in the history of the NBA.

The Spurs very next opponent was the Houston Rockets which saw Ginobili back in the lineup where he would go on to score 18 points and dish out 10 assists. His return against the Rockets was impressive but not BLAZIN, he however would show that in the next two games at home against the Orlando Magic and on the road against the Los Angeles Lakers. He torched the Magic for 43 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and once again showed how dominating he has been this season with his performance against the Lakers in the fourth quarter, a game in which he finished with 32 points. Ginobili has always been a solid performer but the timing of his deadliness couldn’t be more valuable for the Spurs right now as gear up for the playoffs.

Congratulations Manu Ginobili you are this weeks Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin Player.

Jay Z Interested In Buying The Arsenal Gunners?

He Is A BUSINESS Man

English soccer teams must be the new hot thing for rap moguls. Diddy looking to invest in the Crystal Palace, an English Premier League team, must have set something off in Jay-Z because now he’s also thinking about investing in the Arsenal Gunners.

Hova says he’s been a Gunners supporter since Thierry Henry left North London as the top goal-scorer of all time and has remained a fan despite Henry’s move to Barcelona of the Spanish La Liga. Already a part owner of the New Jersey Nets, Jay likes the possibility of adding a soccer franchise to his ever-expanding portfolio.

“I don’t know a lot about the business of soccer,” he said, “but in the future if the right opportunity presented itself, then who knows? I am a businessman, and I will always look at an opportunity, and if it feels right, great.”

Ever the generous one, Jay added, “I don’t know if there are any Jay-Z fans in the current team but if there are they would be more than welcome to come to my next concert when I am over in London. They can come and see me do my work, and then I will come and see them do their work.”

Who knows if anything will materialize, but since Jay-Z is worth an estimated $500 million, anything is possiblllllllllle.

New Jersey Nets Avoid History Beat San Antonio Spurs

I apologize to the New Jersey Nets, didn’t think you could do it. Now do you have it in you to make me apologize to TNT’s Ernie Johnson?

Again to the Nets I apologize.

New Jersey Nets CEO To Have Paper Bag Lunch With Paper Bag Fan

1,016

New Jersey Nets CEO Brett Yormark who is now famous for yelling at a fan wearing a paper-bag over his head during a Nets loss has decided to have a brown bag lunch with the fan.

Yormark and Chris Lisi, the paper bag fan, will meet for a televised lunch to discuss the fate of the Nets franchise today at 11pm CST and be broadcast live on the Nets website.

Lunch, of course, will be brown-bag style and be streamed live at www.njnets.com. Yormark and Lisi will be joined by Nets radio broadcasters Chris Carrino and Tim Capstraw.

It’s nice to see the Nets turn a negative into a positive for once this season but should the Nets ownership lower itself to the common fan now that they are no longer in jeopardy of tying the Philadelphia 76ers for the NBA’s worst record?

New Jersey Nets Give Away Brown Bags

1,016

A game after Nets CEO Brett Yormark laced into a fan sitting at courtside wearing a brown paper bag over his head, the team used the incident for another team promotion.

Every fan who was in attendance at last nights 93-79 win over the Sacremento Kings with a brown bag had it swapped for a Nets bag filled with team goodies.

Inside each nylon Nets bags was a poster, a set of trading cards and a greeting card that read “Thanks for letting us see your face. We hope to see you more often at Nets games, regards CEO Brett Yormark.”

The bag included his email, so fans can offer constructive criticism.

“What happened, happened,” Yormark said before last night’s game. “I didn’t agree with how the fan expressed his point of view of our franchise. I consider myself one of the most accessible CEOs in this market, I email anyone that emails me, I return every phone call from fans. If someone has a point of view of our franchise that’s constructive, call me, email me. I’m here; I’m accessible.

“We didn’t need to stoop to that level . . . having someone come out and hide behind a brown bag, but it happened. I’ve invited the gentleman — we’re trying to coordinate a bag lunch in my office next week where we sit down and talk constructively about it and we might even [stream] it live so the fans can hear a nice, constructive conversation on the state of the team, the direction we’re going.

“We think we have a great future ahead, and I certainly want to express that to this particular individual. He was here on free tickets, OK, which made it even worse, because when you come into someone’s home for dinner, you don’t insult them, and I took that as an insult. But, that being said we move on. We’ll have a little fun tonight with the fans, and that’s it.”

The Nets had 10,068 to recieve the promotion humor bag and see the Nets 8th victory. At 8-63 they still need to win twice to avoid the Philadelphia 76ers’ dubious mark of 9-73 for the worst in NBA history.

Former NBA Player Shawn Bradley Running For Congress

Still Have T-Nutts Taste In Your Mouth?

We don’t touch on politics on this site choosing to leave that up to site center in that forum but how could we resist when it concerns former NBA praying mantis Shawn Bradley.

That’s right the 7-foot-6 former NBA and BYU player Bradley is running for a seat in the Utah House of Representatives. The Republican meet the Friday cut off day filing deadline to enter the race for the seat held by state Rep. Tim Cosgrove, a Murray Democrat.

Bradley says he was encouraged to run by friends and lawmakers. He says he’s always been interested in politics, and “would like to make a difference in people’s lives.”

During his 12-year NBA career, he played for Philadelphia 76ers, New Jersey Nets and Dallas Mavericks. It sure will be a tall order for the human praying mantis.

New Jersey Nets CEO Yells At Paper Bag Fan

A Reminder: 1,016 Fans

New Jersey Nets CEO Brett Yormark showed more fight Monday night than most of the Nets players have all season.

Yormark forgot he was living in an age where everything you say and do is recorded to be replayed forever when he was caught yelling at a paying Nets fan wearing a paper bag over his face. In the era of the Internet and Tivo, Yormark will now be forever associated with yelling at one of the few paying customers who actually had come to witness a team with only 7 wins on the season. Considering the Nets packed the arena once this season with 1,016 fans.

It began as the Nets where suffering the team’s 14th straight loss at home when Yormark began to confort a paper bag wearing Nets fan. With the Nets trailing 79-67 between the third and fourth quarters, Yormark left his courtside seat and passed Chris Lisi of Middletown, N.J., who was sitting in the second row and wearing a paper bag over his head. Yormark then walked back toward Lisi, and in full view of reporters and photographers got into a shouting match with Lisi and a pal. Yormark then began jabbing his finger toward Lisi as he shouted something, Lisi pulled out a pair of tickets and waved them back at the CEO, who then stomped away as security personnel approached.

Lisi claimed that Yormark asked him why he had the bag over his head and when he sarcastically answered, “Because the Nets are so good,” Yormark snapped at him.

The Nets are on pace to break the 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers worst record of 73 losses in an NBA season. The Nets are currently 7-63.

Jerry Stackhouse Reveals Real Feelings On Richard Jefferson

Mind Might Be Elsewhere

Something myself and Rudy J tried to tell the city of San Antonio that Richard Jefferson was a just a mirage of his New Jersey Nets self right after the trade went down with Milwaukee Bucks. Now you can’t find a more hated $14.2 million dollar man in San Antonio.

Apparently we where the only one who saw through the facade of Jefferson talents as fellow NBA player and current Buck Jerry Stackhouse let his true feeling be known during his interview with XM Radio’s Mad Dog channel.

“I just don’t think he’s as good as everybody talked him up to be, to me. I mean, I think he has some talent, he’s an athlete but a lot of the best basketball we’ve seen from Richard Jefferson came when he played with Jason Kidd, when he was just pretty much spoon-fed at the basket and was able to run out and just be an athlete.

“When it comes down to a half-court set and just being able to play half-court basketball I don’t think he’s that special of a player, in my opinion. It’s just one of those things where it’s just not a good fit. It wasn’t a great fit for him in Milwaukee when he was here. He had some big games but really nothing special. He wasn’t a guy that really helped them go to another level as far as wins and losses. And I think they’re finding out in San Antonio that he may not be the right fit for what they want to do. If I know [head coach Gregg] Popovich like I know him I could very easily see him not in a San Antonio uniform next year.”

The rest of the league is taking notice of his play as well and good luck on finding a NBA sucker on willing to trade for to take on Jefferson’s $15 million contract for next year.

Mistakes happen but $29.2 million dollar mistake.

San Antonio Spurs Top 9 Worst Injuries Of All Time

1996-97: The Gift & The Curse

The latest injury to San Antonio Spurs guard Tony Parker, a broken the fourth metacarpal in his shooting hand, has cost him the rest of the regular season in a year that has already plagued him with plantar fasciitis, spraining both ankles, a strained hip flexor and food poisoning.

With the Spurs currently hanging onto the Western Conference seventh seed that already has many questioning their  chances in the playoffs and with this latest injury it will sure cast a greater shadow of doubt. While injuries are part of the game, what have been the 9 most damaging to the Spurs franchise? Why 9? In honor of Tony.

  • 9. Tony Parker 2009-10 season

Parker an NBA Finals MVP season looked shaky from the start when he suffered his first injury in a year that was filled with many. While playing overseas in the off-season for France against Hungary in Eurobasketball Parker turned his ankle. The bug was cast before the season even started but stayed with him until March 6 in Memphis, where his regular season came to end. Parker sat out numerous games in the year to a variety of injuries: plantar fasciitis, a strained hip flexor, spraining both ankles and food poisoning.

  • 8. James Silas 1976-76 season

Possibly one of the best Spurs of all-time that the NBA never had a chance to see at his peak. In the last season ABA before the merger Captain Late broke his ankle by landing on the foot of New Jersey Nets guard Brian Taylor in the ABA Finals. Recovered and ready for the Spurs first season in the NBA he suffered a cartilage tear in his knee restricting him to play in only 22 games for a Spurs team that was poised to contend. Silas played only 37 games the following season and was out of the league in four years.

  • 7. Manu Ginobili 2008-09 season

One of the greatest to put on a Spurs jersey was injured in the semi-finals of the Beijing Olympics. The injury carried through to the NBA season and limited him to appear only in 44 regular season games and missed the entire playoffs. San Antonio went in as the third seed with a 54–28 record but was eliminated by the Dallas Mavericks in the first round 4–1 the earliest exit since 2000.

  • 6. Johnny Dawkins 1988-89 season

Originally drafted with the 10th overall pick in the 1986 NBA Draft the former Duke all time leading scorer and Naismith College Player of the Year was suppose to be the point guard of the future for the Spurs and coach Larry Brown. Durring the 88-89 season he started to suffer from a nerve injury in his left leg and foot that allowed him to only see action in 32 games. The nerve injury in his leg would eventually force him to retire from the game.

  • 5. Terry Cummings 1992-93 season

In a season in which the Spurs improved on its record and advanced out of the first round they did so with limited minutes from one of their best scorers in Cummings. In the off-season Cummings tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his knee during a pickup game that forced him to miss the first 74 regular season games. Upon his return, he could no longer put up All-Star numbers he was accustomed and from then on was used in a role much like a reserve.

  • 4. Derek Anderson 2000-01 season

Anderson was a vital part in the Spurs plans of providing outside help to Tim Duncan and David Robinson averaging 15 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists per game on the wing. The Spurs looked to be on their way to earining a second NBA championship in 3 years as the stars where lining up until Dallas Mavericks Juwan Howard drew a flagrant foul on Anderson. He separated his right shoulder when he drove for the basket and Howard swung his arm into Anderson’s side that caused him to land on his shoulder. He missed the rest of the Mavericks series and returned in the conference finals against the in limited minutes against the Los Angeles Lakers. Anderson and the Spurs where caught in a no win situation since it wasn’t adequate enough time for him to heal.

  • 3. Tim Duncan 1999-2000 season

In the Spurs first chance at trying to repeat as champions after winning their first NBA championship, they entered the playoffs without Duncan. He was averaging 23 points, 12 rebounds, and 2 blocks per game in a season that he had earned co-MVP with Shaquille O’Neal during the All-Star Game. However Duncan injured his meniscus shortly before the end of the regular season against the Sacramento Kings. The injury forced him to miss the playoffs and the Spurs saw them lose to the Phoenix Suns 3–1 in the first round. Without Duncan the Spurs relied on Malik Rose and Jerome Kersey to play alongside David Robinson but in the series they saw them go down as well with injuries.

  • 2. Johnny Moore 1986-87 season

An assist man, who lead the league in that category in 1981-82, a steal man, an all around NBA player in his first five season with the Spurs. Moore often found the open man and wasn’t afraid to make the extra pass as he is one of only three players in teams history to record 20 assists during a game was hospitalized December 26,1986 with the devastating disease, Desert Fever.  Doctors warned him that the disease could be fatal. Desert Fever luckily did not cost his life but ended up costing his basketball career as Moore lost three years of playing. He finally was able to return to the court to play in 53 games during 1989-90 season, which would be his last.

  • 1. David Robinson 1996-97 season

The year that will be known as the gift and curse for the Spurs franchise. That season saw Robinson hurt his back in the preseason, an injury that would plagued him the rest of his career, limited him to 6 games before breaking a bone in his foot. He wound up missing the entire season and the Spurs finished 20-62. The curse is it cost the Spurs their best player in franchise history and their season but the gift came in the form of ping pong balls and the drafting of Tim Duncan out of Wake Forest University with the number one overall pick.

Is there a Spurs injury you believe that was missed to be of greater significant than these 9? Feel free to leave your feedback.

New Jersey Nets Fans Boo LeBron James

Forever Linked To This Image

New Jersey Nets fan last night showed LeBron James that they aren’t to keen on him becoming a Nets. At least 17,502 fans let it be known pretty much every time James touched the ball they showered him with boos.

Nets fans once had high hopes that Jay-Z’s 1.47% ownership in the team would pursue him to make the move with them to Brooklyn however now they boo him like any other NBA superstar wearing another teams uniform.

Two fans sitting courtside who could be seen verbally trashing James even let their choice of attire taunt him. Each of them was wearing a Braylon Edwards jersey, one in Cleveland Browns and the other New York Jets, making light of his feud with the receiver.

That kind of treatment is quite different across the river with New York Knicks fans that still have hope he will call Madison Square Garden home. Just the other night half of the Knicks crowd displayed everything from tee shirts to signs begging James to sign with the Knickerbockers. The people of New York even pleaded with him to become a Knick after he was seen leaving a Jay-Z concert on Tuesday night.

New Jersey Nets Offer To Do Tax Returns, If You Just Go To Their Games

1,016 Fans

The New Jersey Nets have only won six games this season and are back at another gimmick to get people of New Jersey see them come play. This time, they’re giving fans a coupon to have their tax returns done for attending.

The Nets have combined with Roni Deutch Tax Center to offer a free New Jersey income tax return to state residents 18 years and older who attend their game against the Orlando Magic on Friday night at the Izod Center. Patrons won’t get their state taxes done on the spot. They’ll be given a coupon for a free state tax return. The cost is usually $29.

Some of the Nets other promotions have been the “Your Ticket to a Player” which offered fans the opportunity to have Devin Harris, Brook Lopez or any other player on the roster stop by at a family birthday party. All you had to do was pay $25,000 for four courtside tickets for 10 games. You got parking, food and drinks, too.

There also was a 10-game “Match-Up” ticket plan through which their fans got a collection of reversible jerseys with the uniforms of LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Garnett, Dwyane Wade and Howard on one side and a Nets player on the other.

But the bottom line is no matter how enticing this promotions are, you still going to watch the Nets.

New Jersey Nets Play In Front Of 1,016 Fans

Embarrassing

The New Jersey Nets at home to the Milwaukee Bucks 97-77 in front of 1,016 fans. Granted their is a huge snow storm effecting the east coast but these are still the same Nets that are running a promotion for a lucky fan to be head coach for a day and on record to match the leagues worst record, 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers 9-73.

The Nets where playing their final home game before the All-Star break and the loss dropped them to 4-48 on the season. Swingman Chris Douglas-Roberts whose name has been the subject of trade rumors and didn’t play at all in Tuesday 104-97 loss to Cleveland sat for the majority of the game with a towel wrapped over his head embarrassed for what he was seeing and not being a part of it. With 3:35 left in the game 12 people started the CDR chants once he final entered.

So sad.

Everyone knows the New Jersey Nets ship is sinking, its been that way since the NBA season tipped off but before it officially has sunk assistant Del Harris has quit the team.

The Nets issued the statement minutes after they lost 97-93 to the Detroit Pistons on Tuesday night.

Harris joined the team in late November after general manager Kiki Vandeweghe was named the interim coach following the firing of Lawrence Frank after the Nets lost their first 17 games.

We all are watching to see if the Nets make history in losing the most games in an NBA season but what does it say to your organization when a NBA lifer quits only two and half months on the job?
