Michigan State Recruit Turns Down Scholarship For Rap Career

DatBull 4 Life

Jay Harris, a wide receiver from Downingtown East High School in Exton, Pa., is foregoing a football scholarship to pursue a rap career.

Harris is a senior and had 54 catches for 792 yards and 13 touchdowns last season. He was listed as a four-star recruit by Rivals and Scout.

“I’ve been thinking about doing this for a couple of years now…I try to take advantage of every opportunity I get and for him to like my music and reach it to me, I really appreciated that. I’ve always had this in the back of my head, but never had the courage to tell my parents that this is what I want to do.”

Harris mixtape is set to drop in June and he’s already released a YouTube video under the name Jay DatBull that has over 50,000 views, and is entitled, “DatBull 4 Life”.

Brady Hoke says Notre Dame is chickening out of Michigan series

The Michigan-Notre Dame rivalry is one of the best in college football. Not only does it feature two of the winningest programs in the sport, but the rivalry has also produced some riveting games. Unfortunately, the series looks to be coming to an end soon after the Irish decided to pull out of the series because of a scheduling agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference.

On Monday, Michigan head coach Brady Hoke expressed his displeasure with the Irish essentially ending the rivalry, while speaking to a crowd in Grand Rapids, Mich.

“We are fortunate to have unbelievable rivalry games at Michigan,” said Hoke. “The Notre Dame game, that rivalry, which they’re chickening out of. They’re still going to play Michigan State, they’re going to play Purdue, but they don’t want to play Michigan. I don’t know how they made that decision.”

Johnny Manziel plays golf at Pebble Beach

Shot A 79

Johnny Manziel’s dream offseason continued this weekend. The Texas A&M quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner tweeted that he was at Pebble Beach playing golf with his family.

Manziel has not been shy about sharing all the amazing things he has done. He tweets pictures when he’s at big-time NBA or MLB games, and he’s gone on vacations to Mexico, New Orleans, and Toronto in recent months. The lavish lifestyle has led to many people questioning how he is able to afford all the luxuries despite being a college student. Others

have wondered how he even has time to be a student with all the fun things he seems to be doing.

Manziel responded to some of the criticism he heard over Twitter after tweeting about his golfing exploits:

“RT seems like your putting a lot of work into football these days douchebag” here working with my QB coach AND golfing”

“Okay now that everybody ripped me for playing some golf with the family..how’s everyone’s day going? Done with finals and enjoying summer?”

Manti Te’o's fake girlfriend makes Maxim list

TALENT

Manti Te’o just can’t catch a break.

The fake girlfriend scandal continues to follow the former Notre Dame linebacker everywhere he goes. Last month, a San Diego newspaper published a cartoon poking fun at Te’o, who the Chargers drafted in the second round of the NFL Draft. Now, the latest to get in on the “fun” is Maxim.

On Thursday, the magazine released its annual “Hot 100″ list, and low and behold Te’o's non-existent girlfriend made the cut at No. 69. She is depicted here wearing a black bikini in crystal blue waters.

Kliff Kingsbury Leaves Texas Tech Players Note

Guns Up

Texas Tech offensive lineman Alfredo Morales tweeted the photo you see above on Tuesday, which shows a letter head coach Kliff Kingsbury sent to all of his players before they went home for summer break.

“Also we advise you to be active over break as you will need to be ready to work once June rolls around,” the note read. “Sitting at the house playing COD/2K13/Madden against 12 year olds online doesn’t suffice as ‘activity’ even if you claim to ‘wreck shop.’”

Bob Stoops Calls SEC Dominance Propaganda

Shut Your Face

The Southeastern Conference has long been regarded as the premier league in college football. And for good reason.

The league has won seven straight national championships and just had a whopping 63 players selected in the NFL Draft.

As dominant as it may seem, Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops doesn’t seem too impressed. During a recent caravan stop, Stoops reportedly called the SEC’s dominance “propaganda” and said the gap between it and the rest of the conferences isn’t as wide as people may think.

Stoops referred to the bottom half of conference as evidence.“Well, it depends on what gap you’re talking about,” Stoops said. “What are the bottom six doing? “So they’ve had the best team in college football,” Stoops said. “They haven’t had the whole conference. Because, again, half of ‘em haven’t done much at all. I’m just asking you. You tell me.”In a way, Stoops does have a point, as flawed as it seems. The five SEC schools, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, Auburn, and Tennessee, who failed to go to a bowl game last year were a combined 19-41. Meanwhile, the bottom half of the Big 12, Texas Tech, TCU, West Virginia, Iowa State, and Kansas, combined to go 29-35 overall.“It depends on who you want to listen to,” Stoops told the Tulsa World. “Listen, they’ve had the best team in college football, meaning they’ve won the national championship. That doesn’t mean everything else is always the best. “So you’re listening to a lot of propaganda that gets fed out to you,” he said. “You’re more than smart enough to figure it out. Again, you can look at the top two, three, four, five, six teams, and you can look at the bottom six, seven, eight, whatever they are. How well are they all doing?”

University of Texas Suspends 2 Players Over Trading Urine

Be Careful Whose Urine You Borrow

All-American closer Corey Knebel has been suspended by the University of Texas because, according to the Austin American-Statesman, “he willingly substituted his urine sample to protect a teammate from failing a drug test.”

The Austin American-Statesman report that the teammate in question is likely pitcher Cameron Cox, who was suspended indefinitely for an undisclosed rules violation. They got caught because the test came back positive for Adderal, which Knebel is approved to take despite it being on the NCAA’s list of banned substances.

So, seemingly Cox was worried about failing a drug test and got Knebel to swap in his urine sample, except he didn’t realize Knebel takes Adderal and that would show up on the falsified test.

Wyoming students chant alcoholic at Larry Eustachy

He Just Likes To Have 35-45 Beers

N.C. State fans talking about Chris Paul’s late grandfather. D.J. Strawberry hearing comments about his troubled father. Duke fans holding up signs with “J.R. Can’t Reid” written on them are just a few examples of times students cross a line in their creative chants.

Some Wyoming fans crossed that line Wednesday night when they chanted “alcoholic” at Colorado State coach Larry Eustach.

Eustachy was fired from Iowa State in 2003 after he was photographed drinking with undergraduates. He admitted he was an functioning alcoholic — “probably the best in the country at it” — and sought treatment. He was quickly hired at Southern Miss and spent eight years there before moving to Colorado State last spring.

This April, Eustachy will mark 10 years of sobriety, he says.

The chant in Wyoming started before halftime of the game in Laramie. The Cowboys had been trailing for most of the game and would go on to lose 78-56.

Louisville football to offer $1 beer during spring game

TALENT

The Louisville Cardinals football team, fresh off of their Sugar Bowl victory over Florida, are entering the 2013 season with high expectations. They have a potential Heisman winner at quarterback in Teddy Bridgewater and a fiery head coach in Charlie Strong. They are viewed by many to be among the top 10 teams in the nation heading into the spring.

So, to pop the top on what should be a fantastic season, the Cardinals are planning to entice fans to come to Papa Johns Cardinal Stadium by selling $1 beers during its annual Spring Game on April 13. That’s right. I said $1 beer. The brew will be available both in and outside of the stadium for that price during the day.

An estimated crowd of 15,000 was on hand for last season’s rain-soaked affair.

Colorado lineman threatens guard, knocks down wall

TALENT

Angry that he wasn’t allowed access to a fraternity party on Feb. 22, Colorado defensive lineman Samson Kafovalu decided to take drastic measures to work his way in.

First he tried to push his way into the party, unsuccessfully. A security guard at the door said that Kafovalu was not on the list and was not allowed to enter. Then Kafovalu tried to reason with the security guard.

“Don’t [expletive] do this [expletive], I’ll [expletive] kill you,” Kafovalu said, according to the police report.

Kafovalu’s friends then intervened, pushing the sophomore-to-be back away from the guard… and into a brick wall, which Kafovalu knocked over. The damage to the wall will cost the fraternity $300, according to the report.

And so the police were called and Kafovalu was asked to take a breathalyzer test were he blew a .120, which is above the the legal limit.

Kafovalu was issued a summons on charges of threatening bodily injury, trespassing, consumption of alcohol by a minor and use of fighting words.

Former Tennessee strength coach uses saw to break into arena

Not This Guy But You Can See It's In The Water

A former strength and conditioning coach at the University of Tennessee was arrested and charged with burglary, theft and vandalism after he used a saw and his own two hands to ransack an office inside the university’s basketball arena.

Troy Willis spent eight seasons working with the Volunteers’ basketball program until being let go following the 2011-12 season by coach Cuonzo Martin. According to an affidavit acquired by the Knoxville News Sentinel, Willis broke into the arena early Saturday morning before using the saw to enter the office of Bill Whitesell, a university event management director.

He then got to work inside Whitesell’s office, causing $750 in damages and stealing $4,150 from Whitesell’s desk. Willis was seen on surveillance video walking down a hallway inside the arena “with what appears to be a saw in his hand” and “attempting to hide underneath his coat,” the affidavit read.

Willis also faces an additional theft charge following a Dec. 5 incident at Fusion Tanning Studios in Knoxville, Tenn. According to the affidavit, Willis took a bottle of $100 tanning cream from the tanning salon. Willis agreed to return the bottle after being contacted about the theft, but he never did so, according to the News Sentinel.
