Jacksonville Jaguars To Play Multiple Games Overseas

New Jacksonville Jaguars owner Shahid Khan has talked about branding his team internationally so it can enjoy the same recognition abroad as a team like the Pittsburgh Steelers does domestically.
The Jaguars took a major step in that direction Monday, committing to play one “home” game in London over four consecutive seasons beginning in 2013, per AP.
An official announcement is expected.
The opportunity became available after the St. Louis Rams decided last week to reverse course and back out of playing in London in 2013 and 2014, though they will still “host” the New England Patriots on Oct. 28.
The Jaguars have received tepid support in Jacksonville in recent seasons and have struggled to avoid blackouts despite reducing the capacity of EverBank Field.
Khan has vowed to keep the team in northern Florida, and a prohibitive stadium lease would make it hard to move even if he wanted to.
Aaron Ross To Miss Parts Of Training Camp To Watch Wife In Olympics

Recently signed Jacksonville Jaguars defensive back Aaron Ross will be missing a portion of training camp this summer to support his wife Sanya Richards-Ross at the 2012 Olympics in London.
Sanya won the 400 meters race at the U.S. trials over the weekend to qualify for the Olympics by running a 49.28, best in the World so far this year.
Aaron asked the Jaguars for permission to take time off before signing a 3-year, $9.75 million contract in March. Ross asked the New York Giants for permission to watch his wife run in the 2008 Olympics where she won bronze in the 400 meter but his request was denied.
Coach Mike Mularkey promised Ross in April that if his wife, qualified for the Olympics, he could get time off.
“You certainly don’t want somebody to miss something like that. A birth, your wife in the Olympics, I don’t know anybody who’s had that chance.”
When Aaron was granted permission to miss a few days, he said,
“That’s really huge. It speaks volumes about what they’re trying to preach here. They preach family first, and they’re not just preaching it. They’re actually showing it firsthand. It was important to me and they made it happen.”
Ross said he will watch his wife run if she makes the finals Aug. 5, but not any of the prelim heats.
“I want to miss as little time as possible,” he said.
Richards-Ross isn’t the only woman with NFL ties who is Olympics-bound. Holley Mangold, the sister of New York Jets center Nick Mangold, qualified as a weight lifter. Jets coach Rex Ryan has encouraged Mangold go to London to watch his sister, but Mangold has said he wants to remain in camp with teammates.

A police report surfaced that involves Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Terrance Knighton, and it does not cast the star in the best of lights. The report says that Knighton and a friend known as “Spoon” were among people thrown out of Club Pure in Jacksonville, Florida.
Knighton and Spoon “repeatedly made threats to shoot people,” once they were outside the club. Shortly thereafter Knighton sustained a cut to his eye and had to have surgery immediately on Sunday as the injury was reported to be serious.

Drew Rosenhaus Says Terrell Owens Is Ready To Play

Terrell Owens is ready to return to the NFL. The veteran wide receiver has been rehabilitating a left knee injury that required surgery. He is a free agent and agent Drew Rosenhaus says he will begin contacting teams immediately to let them know Owens is healthy.
Rosenhaus said Owens could play Sunday.
“We are open to any team at this point,” Rosenhaus said. “There have been several teams showing interest thus far, but I won’t identify them at this time.”
The 37-year-old Owens played 14 games for Cincinnati Bengals last year, making 72 receptions with nine touchdowns. He ranks third in career touchdown catches with 153 and second in yards receiving with 15,934. Among those teams short-handed at receiver are Tennessee Titans, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars.
Oakland Raiders Looking At David Garrad & Carson Palmer

The Oakland Raiders have contacted free agent quarterback David Garrard as a possible replacement for injured quarterback Jason Campbell. The Raiders are also reportedly exploring the possibility of trading for Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer before Tuesday’s trade deadline.
Garrard was let go by the Jacksonville Jaguars in September, just before the start of the regular season. Like Garrard, Palmer has not played this season, after refusing to report to the Bengals when his trade demand was not met.
Campbell left Sunday’s 24-17 victory over the Cleveland Browns with a broken collarbone. He is expected to miss the rest of the season.
The Raiders are 4-2 and do not want their playoff hopes to disappear with Campbell’s injury. Kyle Boller finished Sunday’s win over the Browns after Campbell was injured, and rookie Terrelle Pryor is also on their roster.
Antonio Cromartie Says He’s Better Than Nnamdi Asomugha

New York Jets thought about replacing cornerback Antonio Cromartie during the abbreviated offseason with now Philadelphia Eagles Nnamdi Asomugha. After a stellar performance on Sunday when he came up with two interceptions in the win over the Jacksonville Jaguars suddenly Cromartie found his voice and told ESPN that he believes he’s a more dynamic player than Asomugha.
“My style of play and his style of play are totally different,” Cromartie said. “I feel I’m more of a playmaker than he is.”
It does help that he faced Jaguars quarterback Luke McCown and has Darrelle Revis playing across the field to make these kind of statements.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler has gotten engaged to girlfriend Kristin Cavallari over the weekend while on vacation in Mexico. Cavallari is of MTV fame Laguna Beach and has been dating the Bears quarterback since last fall. Cutler came under a withering social media attack from fellow NFL players who questioned his toughness for leaving the NFC Championship Game against the Green Bay Packers due to a knee injury. Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew tweeted:

But Bears coach Lovie Smith and teammates like Brian Urlacher strongly defended Cutler.

The heat has gotten a little hot for Jacksonville Jaguars Maurice Jones-Drew after he made some disparaging remarks about Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler. Jones-Drew took to his Twitter account on Sunday to criticize Cutler after he left the NFC Championship game with a knee injury. Jones-Drew was just one of many players that threw his opinion on Cutler but has since said that his criticism was a joke. Jones-Drew told the Associated Press that he never questioned Cutler’s toughness when he left the NFC title game.
“I never attacked him, called him soft or a sore loser,” Jones-Drew said. “I never questioned his toughness. I think people took my joke out of context. I was taking at shot at Florida fans.”
After backup quarterback Todd Collins entered the game, Jones-Drew tweeted that he thinks “the urban meyer rule is effect right now… When the going gets tough……..QUIT.” He also posted that he played the whole season with a hurt knee. Jones-Drew said he was unaware that anything was wrong with Cutler.
“All I thought about was being in that position, being in that game,” Jones-Drew said. “I’ve never been in a title game, so my first thought was why wouldn’t you want to play in that situation.”
It was reported on Monday that Cutler sprained his MCL.

Seeing Jay Cutler’s jersey burn is nothing new on this site, as we have posted little Tommy taking a lighter to his Denver Broncos jersey before, when he was traded to the Chicago Bears. However, this is the first time fans in Chicago have turned on Cutler and it all came about after he had on the worst in his pro career. He was unable to do much against Green Bay Packers defense for most of the afternoon before leaving the game due to an injury which he’s unaware of when he suffered it.

Kim Nored is a die hard Jacksonville Jaguars a die hard fan that has past and present players autographs on her arms. Nored, who is 29 and a college student, has 18 signatures tattooed on her arms but only above her elbows. She wants her arms to be office-appropriate. The signatures are mostly from players, but she also has coach Jack Del Rio, Jaxson de Ville and Jaguars great Tony Boselli.
She has the Jaguars biggest stars, such as tight end Marcedes Lewis and quarterback David Garrard. Running back Maurice Jones-Drew and cornerback Rashean Mathis were the last two to sign her arm during training camp. She’s saving a spot on one shoulder for Fred Taylor.
Nored also has safety Reggie Nelson, whom the Jaguars traded away in September, defensive lineman Atiyyah Ellison, tight end Ernest Wilford, who was cut this year, and former reserve linebacker Thomas Williams.
“It breaks my heart that they’re not on the team anymore,” Nored said. “But it doesn’t bother me that I got the tattoos.”

Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Kassim Osgood jumped out a second-floor window to escape Julian Armond Bartletto,an armed gunman, who attacked him and his ex-girlfirend Mackenzie Rae Putnal a 19-year-old Jaguars cheerleader.
Bartletto exchanged gunfire after putting a gun to Putnal head Monday night saying, “What did that football player say to his girlfriend, it’s a good day to die,” misquoting ex-Florida Gator Chris Rainey’s recent text message to a former girlfriend after an arrest, according to a Sheriff’s Office report.
Putnal and Osgood were watching television around 11 p.m. in an upstairs game room when a man walked in with his face covered with a plastic bag and pointed a gun at them. Bartletto pulled Putnal around the room by her hair and hit her with the gun and his fists before hitting Osgood in the head with the gun.
The gunman took Putnal’s cell phone and tackled her as she tried to flee. When he ordered the couple to sit on the floor, she escaped downstairs in her parents’ home and grabbed a gun, police said. They shot at each other and both missed. Osgood then jammed a chair under the door, jumped out a window to the lawn below and ran to a neighbor’s house to call police.
The Jaguars declined comment on Putnal’s status as one of the team’s 32 cheerleaders. She is listed in the 2010 media guide as a dental hygiene major, but she is no longer on the team’s website. The team has a rule forbidding cheerleaders to date players.
Osgood has two receptions for 29 yards this season, including a 24-yard touchdown catch in the opener against Denver. He played seven seasons for San Diego, and made three Pro Bowls as a special teams ace, before signing with the Jaguars.
Bartletto, 20, of Jacksonville, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery, false imprisonment, armed robbery, burglary and violation of an injunction.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Andy Reid has run a reverse on his previous claims that Kevin Kolb was their starting quarterback and named backup Michael Vick the teams new starter this week against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Reid on September 13, was asked about the possibility of Vick supplanting Kolb as the Eagles starting quarterback: “That’s not what’s happening . . . Well, let me say it again. I know I’m using poor English. Kevin Kolb is the No. 1 quarterback.”
And here’s Reid on September 21: “I’m obviously here to announce that Michael Vick will be the starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles.”
But it was the Philadelphia Daily News that takes top billing with this mornings headline that Vick is now TOP DOG in Philly now. This like Reid is a total reversal of their previous headline when Vick signed with the Eagles that read HIDE YOUR DOGS.
