English Pro Soccer Player Names Newborn ‘Trendy’

Playing for Peterborough United FC in the English Champions League, Congolese defender Gabriel Zakuani recently celebrated the birth of his son with a now regular celebrity tradition of stupid names. Zakuani may win with the worst yet though after saddling his kid with the first name of “Trendy.”
Zakuani said that the name refers to Trendy’s mother’s (Shanice Petrie) work in fashion, although a quick Google search reveals that Petrie doesn’t seem to have anything noteworthy. Regardless, you’ve now named a little boy “Trendy,” which is just fucking asinine and cruel.
“The official reason was [Petrie] wanted something to reflect [her work]. But it was me who came up with Trendy,” Zakuani said. “People have asked if his name is because of ‘trending topics’ on Twitter. Maybe it was in the back of my mind.”
“Everyone has been giving me banter. The gaffer Darren Ferguson wouldn’t believe me,” Zakuani said of his son’s name. “He kept asking me what it really is. But Trendy definitely suits him. I’m sure it’ll grow on everybody.”
