Man Sues Mark Cuban, Carmelo Anthony, Jerry Buss & Jerry Reinsdorf
Jonathan Lee Riches is suing Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban, Denver Nuggets superstar Carmelo Anthony, Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss and Chciago Bulls owner Jerry Reinsdorf from his prison cell. Riches is not new to suing people as he has sued George Bush, Martha Stewart, Steve Jobs, Michael Vick, Lady Gaga and even Somali pirates in the past. In his suit he says
Carmelo Anthony told me he is going to kill me … I was his former boyfriend and we were in a sexual relationship in 2000.
Mark Cuban stole my credit cards and tried to buy the Texas Rangers with my money. Mark Cuban assaulted me serving ice cream at Dairy Queen.
Jerry Buss sold me Jeannie Buss on eBay and I was promised a Lakers janitor job when I get out of prison for less than minimum wage.
Obviously, these are all not true.

Which do you like best?
WTF: Dominique Jones
This is Dallas Mavericks guard Dominique Jones newest tattoo and it’s one hes very proud to show off, the NBA logo. Before I hear someone mention that what if his career never pans out in the league, then what? I’ll say at least he stepped onto a stage you nor I ever did and he’s walking away with the memories and accomplishment of reaching the NBA.
Being a tattoo lover and having 10 myself, I gotta ask Dominique who did your ink though? It doesn’t look like good work. I hope that its just the pixels from your iPhone causing it to look sloppy.
Nolan Ryan Beats Mark Cuban In Auction For Texas Rangers
Nolan Ryan’s group was the winning bidder in the sale of the Texas Rangers in an auction that spanned 10 hours. When Ryan’s group was announced as the winning bidder, the packed courtroom erupted in cheers and a standing ovation.
Ryan and his business partner, sports attorney Chuck Greenberg, won the team with a $593 million bid, including $385 million in cash, surviving the fierce bidding war with a group led by billionaire Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban and Houston businessman Jim Crane.
The Greenberg-Ryan group had Major League Baseball’s endorsement since being named the new team owners after last year’s original sale process and a story we posted for you on December 15. But the deal was stalled by angry creditors and then unexpectedly put in limbo by the team’s May bankruptcy filing. In the middle of the Rangers best season in years, Ryan attended nearly every bankruptcy hearing the past two months.
“It was an emotional roller-coaster,” a smiling Ryan said between hugs with colleagues and well-wishers in the courthouse. “You go to court one day and it didn’t go your way, but you go back another day and it would. It’s a relief.”
The much-anticipated auction started Wednesday afternoon, with the announcement that the Cuban-Crane bid was about $25 million more than the Greenberg-Ryan group’s offer, which was the starting bid. The stop-and-start showdown was delayed for hours by closed-door haggling over the complicated nature of each bid.
Despite losing, Cuban was smiling after the auction. His group dropped out of bidding after reaching a predetermined limit. Cuban, who also made an unsuccessful bid for the Chicago Cubs last year, said he wanted to buy the Rangers but remains an enthusiastic fan of the team and of Ryan.
“I wish them the best,” Cuban said, later ducking out a back door so television cameras and photographers would remain focused on Greenberg and Ryan, adding, “It’s their moment.”
Although the Cuban-Crane group had made a $390 million cash offer, part of a $598 million bid, the Greenberg-Ryan bid was considered higher because of how the bids were structured. Each group’s bid included $208 million of team debt – including $24.9 million in deferred compensation owed to Alex Rodriguez six years after he was traded to the New York Yankees.
Top creditors will only get about $75 million from the team. But the judge has said lenders, who are owed about $525 million after team owner Tom Hicks’ financially strapped ownership group defaulted on loans, can go after Hicks’ other companies.
Final approval of the Rangers sale rests with MLB, which is expected to wholeheartedly approve the deal next week before the Greenberg-Ryan group’s funding guarantee expires Aug. 12.
Mark Cuban “Gets Big” In The Rap World
Athletes are always trying to be rappers and rappers are always trying to be athletes but what do we call it when a NBA owner is trying to make a transition? Dallas rapper Dorrough has apparently gotten BIG enough to have Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban make an appearance in his “Get Big” official video.
Does the rap world accept Cuban? He spends whatever he wants on the Mavericks and he doesn’t care what you think about him, looks like a perfect marriage to me.
NBA Finals Game 6 Overnight Ratings
For the first time in the 2010 NBA Finals, overnight ratings declined from the previous game.
The Los Angeles Lakers uncompetitive Game 6 win over the Boston Celtics drew a 12.3 overnight rating on ABC Tuesday night, down 4% from Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics Game 6 in 2008 (12.8), up 11% from Miami Heat/Dallas Mavericks Game 6 in 2006 (11.1), and up 17% from Detroit Pistons/San Antonio Spurs Game 6 in 2005 (10.5).
The 12.3 overnight is the second-highest of the series, behind Sunday’s Game 5 (12.8), and is tied as the 7th-highest for an NBA game on ABC since the network acquired the rights in 2002. Additionally, this is the second-highest overnight for Game 6 of the NBA Finals since 2000 (five games).
Tuesday’s game was only the fourth non-clinching Game 6 since 1984. The Detroit Pistons/San Antonio Spurs Game 6 in 2005 drew a 10.5 overnight,New York Knicks/Houston Rockets Game 6 in 1994 drew a 14.1 on NBC, and Detroit Pistons/Los Angeles Lakers Game 6 in 1988 drew a 15.4 on CBS.
Once again, the NBA Finals helped ABC win the night in primetime.
Another Former NBA Player Files For Bankruptcy
Antoine Walker, the three-time NBA All-Star who made about $110 million during his 13-year career playing for Boston Celtics,Dallas Mavericks,Atlanta Hawks,Miami Heat,Minnesota Timberwolves, and Memphis Grizzlies has filed for bankruptcy.
Walker worked out a payment plan last year with Las Vegas casinos after he was arrested for writing $1 million in bad checks. But he since was hit with a $2.3 million foreclosure lawsuit on a Chicago-area property he purchased for his mother.
Walker, 33, lists liabilities of $12.74 million and assets of $4.28 million in his filing. The assets include his 2006 NBA championship ring, valued at $6,000. The petition also lists nearly $650,000 in gambling losses in 2008-09.
The LeBron James To Dallas Mavericks Song
Tired of the guy with no rings yet? I am and we haven’t even hit June nor the exclusive days in July when teams can actually start talking to the man with no rings. The latest begging attempt comes from Dallas Mavericks fans in hopes to lure LeBron James to the metroplex. Yeah, sure, a 112 knock off is going to do the trick.
Jason Kidd’s Girlfriend Named Playboy Playmate Of The Year
Playboy is ready to jump off the pages and bring it’s women in 3-D form when it unveils Port Lavaca’s own and Dallas Mavericks Jason Kidd’s girlfriend Hope Dworaczyk as Playboy’s 2010 Playmate of the Year.
Dworaczyk was Miss Teen Texas in 2000 and is the the 51st Playmate of the Year. Her Playmate of the Year issue will be on newsstands on Friday with her pictorial feature having several photos in 3-D. Special 3-D glasses will be included.
Whats next up for her career, not sure and don’t care I’m still baffled by her boyfriend being Jason Kidd.
Ross Perot Jr. Sues Fellow Dallas Mavericks Owner Mark Cuban, Claims Insolvent
Dallas Mavericks miniority owner Ross Perot Jr., who owns 5 percent, is suing majority owner Mark Cuban for being insolvent and in imminent danger of insolvency according to a lawsuit filed Monday in state district court by a Perot-controlled company. The suit focuses on Dallas Basketball Limited, which does business as the Dallas Mavericks.
“DBL currently does not have revenues sufficient to pay its operating costs,” the lawsuit said. “Without additional borrowings, DBL will not be able to fund its projected operating losses or to pay its obligations as they become due.”
The Mavericks debt now exceeds $200 million, the lawsuit said. Perot wants a court-appointed receiver to run the team. Cuban denied the team was insolvent and said Perot might be trying to pressure him to buy him out.
“Mavs fans have nothing to worry about,” he said in an e-mail. “The Mavs operations and debt are guaranteed by me. There is no risk of insolvency. Everyone always has been and will be paid on time.”
“What I do know is that being in business with Ross Perot is one of the worst experiences of my business life,” Cuban said. “He could care less about Mavs fans. He could care less about winning. The other partners have no problem with how the team is run. They want to win as badly as I do.”
According to the lawsuit filed Monday, DBL posted net losses totaling $273 million between 2000 and 2009, including a $50 million loss in the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2009. The lawsuit was filed by Hillwood Investment Properties III Ltd. against Radical Mavericks Management LLC, the Cuban-owned entity that controls DBL. DBL had interest-bearing debt of more than $200 million as of Dec. 31, and its own projections show that growing to $281 million by June 2013, the lawsuit alleged.
“I am the largest debt holder and personally guarantee the rest,” Cuban said. “So he is suing me saying I can’t pay myself back.”
In its annual financial rankings of NBA teams, Forbes said the Mavericks were worth $446 million, down 4 percent from the previous year. The magazine said the team had a $17.4 million operating loss during the previous season and would probably lose money again this past season. The Mavericks have made money in only one year since 1998.
Mark Cuban Teams Up With ‘Girls Gone Wild’
Mark Cuban is teaming up with “Girls Gone Wild” for a new 12-part series titled, “Search for the Hottest Girl in America.” The Dallas Mavericks owner will air the show on the cable channel HDNet, which he launched in 2001.
“We’re very excited to work with the Girls Gone Wild team to launch this show,” Cuban says in the release. “The program is a cool, behind-the-scenes look at the GGW enterprise and a wild ride for our viewers. It’s a perfect fit for the new, unrated, late-night programming block that we air as part of our ‘Guys Night In’ line-up every Thursday.”
But if you’re NBA Commissioner David “The Goon” Stern and mainstream NBA sponsors and you see Cuban expressing such public enthusiasm for a partnership with a company that produces hardcore pornography and has an owner, Joe Francis, who has “pleaded guilty to violating federal laws designed to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and agreed to pay fines totaling $2.1 million,” might you find that a little unseemly?
Mavericks GONE Fishing!!!
Never has a 7th seed beaten a number 2 in a best of seven game format in the first round until last night when the San Antonio Spurs sent the Dallas Mavericks fishing. Glad to see Emmitt Smith was able to get aboard.
And Walker told me I have AIDS.
BLOCK CITY: Your Victim-Jason Terry
Antonio McDyess, you have been charged with the crime of Representin.
And the verdict is Guilty.
Danny Crawford Proud Of His Record In Dallas Mavericks Games
On ESPN Radio, Tim Donaghy, former NBA referee and author of ‘Personal Fouls’, talked about Danny Crawford and his record officiating the Mavericks and how referees see Mavericks owner Mark Cuban. Donaghy says Crawford’s record officiating games with the Mavericks is suspect and that Cuban still makes the Mavericks a target.
“I write about this a lot in the book ‘Personal Foul’ that Danny was pretty much proud of the fact that what his record was while refereeing Dallas Mavericks playoff games so I don’t know that it is a streak that he wants to keep alive or what the story is with that, but I just think that it is almost humanly impossible a referee could have that record with one team during playoff games alone.”
And if officials take out their frustrations with Mark Cuban on the Mavs?
“I don’t think that there is any doubt that it still sticks with them. I think that it probably got a little worse when Mark made some positive comments about my book that recently came out in December and I think that it is very irritated to them that, basically, the cat is out of the bag and what he has been saying for years is basically have some evidence behind it and he has basically been right.”
Fact: the Mavericks are 1-16 in playoff games officiated by Crawford.
WTF: Mike Bacsik
For those that don’t know who Mike Bacsik is, he’s a former Major League Baseball pitcher and the son of Michael James Bacsik, who was also a pitcher in the majors. He’s most famous though for giving up Barry Bonds 756th career home run, which broke the all-time record formerly held by Hank Aaron.
Bacsik currently is the producer on The Ticket 1310 in Dallas for Norm Hitzges and performs other fill-in duties however he allowed his hidden racism spill out onto Twitter after the Dallas Mavericks loss to the San Antonio Spurs in game 4, with his above tweet. Shortly thereafter he deleted his comment, hoping it would forever cease to exist and followed it up with a back handed apology.
Mike Bacsik’s tweet is probably a very accurate representation of how he really feels about certain races when he out of public’s eye, if not where does these feelings come from then?
Quiznos Toasty Topic: Mark Cuban’s Comments
Every Wednesday Sports Grind Entertainment presents you with the Quiznos Toasty Topic. Today the toasty topic to be discussed is the comments made by Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban about his “hate” for the San Antonio Spurs.
Cuban said Tuesday that his team’s rivalry with the Spurs is as bitter as it ever been.
“No, I mean I hate the Spurs. I have a hard time being civil to [Spurs owner] Peter Holt at the board of governors meetings and he has a hard time being civil to me even though we both like each other. It’s what it represents. We can both be 0-80 and if those last two games are Spurs-Mavs, it’s going to be like a playoff game because we dislike each other that much.”
The teams are locked in their third playoff series of the past five seasons and the fifth overall in the Tim Duncan-Dirk Nowitzki era. The Spurs held the upper hand in the first two series in 2001 and 2003, but the Mavs won the past two, taking the 2006 second-round series en route to the franchise’s only NBA Finals appearance. Dallas also won last season’s first-round series, 4-1.
Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich wasn’t even spared a little jab from Cuban who used San Antonio’s head coach comments from previous years about always playing for the best record to this season resting his players against the Mavericks.
“Well, I take that back unless Pop says he’s going for the best record and then rests everybody. But beyond that, every possession just feels like it’s a punch in a heavyweight title fight. This doesn’t feel like the first round of the playoffs, I guess is what I’m saying.”
The Spurs hold four championships over the Mavericks none over Cuban’s head.
San Antonio Spurs Draw Good Ratings On TNT
TNT NBA Playoffs tripleheader on Sunday drew good numbers for TNT. Headlined by the San Antonio Spurs/Dallas Mavericks matchup.
The Mavericks Game 1 win over the Spurs drew a 2.9 overnight rating on TNT Sunday night, up 7% from Miami Heat/Atlanta Hawks in the same time slot last year (2.7). Last year’s Mavericks/Spurs Game 1, which aired on a Saturday night on ESPN, drew a 2.3 overnight rating. The 2.9 for Sunday’s game was tied as the highest of the weekend for an NBA Playoff game on cable as the Miami Heat/Boston Celtics also drew a 2.9 on ESPN the previous night.
The rest of ESPN’s tripleheader numbers saw the Milwaukee Bucks/Atlanta Hawks game draw a 1.8 overnight rating and later in the night the Utah Jazz/Denver Nuggets saw a 2.4 overnight.
The Charlotte Bobcats/Orlando Magic Game 1 drew a 2.5 overnight rating, up 9% from Philadelphia 76ers/Orlando Magic Game 1 last year (2.3). The night ended with the Portland Trail Blazers Game 1 upset of Phoenix Suns drew a 2.2 overnight and was down 3% from last year’s Game 1 between the New Orleans Hornets and Denver Nuggets (2.3).
Overall, TNT averaged a 2.5 overnight rating for NBA Playoff coverage on Sunday.
WTF: Tiger Woods/Ben Roethlisberger
It’s Sunday and just killing a little time with random image searches in Google waiting for the San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks tip off and stumbled upon this little current gem.
I know this is an old photo because look at Urkel he has hair or a lot more than he currently has. But somewhere along the lines one of these two sex manics wanted to meet the other and someone got the photo. I wonder if there’s a secret sex society that brought them together?

PEAK Shoes Signs Another NBA Superstar
Gotta be honest when I stumbled upon Phoenix Suns Jason Richardson Twitter account and saw his tweet about his new line of shoes with PEAK, I had no idea who PEAK was.
Turns out PEAK is a Chinese shoe company that has within the last year signed up NBA superstars like Dallas Mavericks Jason Kidd, Houston Rockets Shane Battier,Los Angeles Lakers Sasha Vujacic and Ron Artest. Richardson is just the latest superstar to jump Nike’s ship for PEAK.
Is PEAK the 2010 version of FILA or And 1, I have no idea. What I do know is that I’m know longer 13 and the power of having someone attached to a shoe line doesn’t drive me when it comes to buying shoes it all comes down to looks and PEAK misses it on Richardson’s pair.
Don Nelson Becomes NBA All-Time Winningest Coach

1,333
Golden State Warriors Don Nelson is now your NBA’s most winningest coach with a 116-107 win last night over the Minnesota Timberwolves, passing Lenny Wilkens.
Nelson can extend the number of wins since he has every intention on finishing out the one year left on his contract at $6 million remaining. Nelson has zero number of NBA titles he has as a coach, perhaps the glaring reason he has been passed over by the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame three times.
In 31 seasons on the bench, Nelson is 1,333-1,061 in a career that has made stops in Milwaukee, Golden State (twice), New York and Dallas. He won five titles as a player, has been named coach of the year three times. Nelson got his first head coaching job with Milwaukee in 1976 when he replaced Larry Costello 19 games into the season and didn’t even have an assistant.
Through it all, Nelson has always done it his way. He’s clashed with players, management and ownership at various stops along the way and is the only coach with at least 1,000 career victories who has yet to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Nelson has built a reputation as a “mad scientist,” experimenting with lineups and offensive sets to cater to teams that were not always the biggest, strongest or most talented. In his first stint with Golden State in the late 1980s, he employed the famous “Run T-M-C” lineup of guards Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullin to make the Warriors one of the more entertaining teams in the league. And now “Nelly Ball” has its own place in history.
This has been a long season for the Warriors (24-54), who have been ravaged by injuries and are a lock to finish with their fewest wins since 2001-02. The Warriors played their sixth straight game without Monta Ellis (flu) and also were again without Anthony Randolph (ankle) and Kelenna Azubuike (knee) Andris Biedrins (sports hernia) and Brandan Wright (shoulder) have missed big chunks of time this season too. The Warriors have called up five players from the Development League this season, which is tied with the 2007-08 Spurs for the most in one season.
Rookie Stephen Curry last night scored 27 points and dished out 14 assists and finished just two rebounds and three steals from a quadruple-double while the other hero in helping Nelson achieve the honor was last night was Anthony Tolliver. He led Golden State with a career-high 34 points and has been averaging 14.8 points and 7.9 rebounds since being signed back in January.
- NBA ALL-TIME COACHING VICTORIES
- Don Nelson 1,333
- Lenny Wilkens 1,332
- Pat Riley 1,210
- Jerry Sloan 1,188
- Phil Jackson 1,095
