Chinese Group’s Plan To Buy 15% Cleveland Cavaliers Falls Through

Mistake By The Lake

The deal to sell a minority stake in the Cleveland Cavaliers to a Chinese investment group has been dead for months according to the NBA because businessman Kenny Huang couldn’t come up with the money.

Huang had agreed to buy 15 percent of the team owned by former Cavaliers Vice Chairman David Katzman. Any transfer of team ownership of more than 5 percent must be approved by the NBA’s Board of Governors, specifically three-fourths of the other 29 teams. Approval is based on a rigorous personal, business and financial background check but it never got that far.

Apparently the deal fell through back in May well before the NBA Finals and the LeBron James decision.

LeBron James Says Goodbye To The City Of Akron, Not Cleveland

How About Just Thanking Your Fans Of Ohio?

In this day in age athletes changing cities is quite a common occurrence but what isn’t as common as you’d think is athletes saying goodbye to their previous host city. In what has become a recurring theme on this site from everyone like Roy Halladay leaving Tornoto to Milton Bradley leaving Chicago and to now with LeBron James comes a whole new way of saying goodbye, exclude the city. Could have just said to thank you to Cavalier fans or his fans of Ohio.

The city of Cleveland will probably celebrate knowing that a man who represented their city to the world now calls Miami home.

Chris Bosh Finally Receives The LeBron James Treatment From Former Employer

No More CB4

Finally someone within the Toronto Raptors origination has spoken out about forward Chris Bosh departure to play alongside LeBron James and Dwyane Wade in Miami. First Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert ripped James in a letter  for leaving his hometown immediately after his one-hour ESPN special and now Raptors president Bryan Colangelo has joined the party in talking about Bosh sitting out the finally weeks of the season.

Colangelo said that Bosh didn’t care down the stretch of the 2009-2010 season as the Raptors were battling with Chicago for the last playoff spot. He said Bosh chose not to play during the final games, despite being cleared to play.

“Whether he was mentally checked out or just wasn’t quite into it down the stretch, he wasn’t the same guy,” Colangelo said. “I think everybody saw that, but no one wanted to acknowledge it.”

So we now also have another NBA executive acknowledging that there was never really any control and just let Bosh do as he pleased as was the case with Gilbert.

Jesse Jackson Says Dan Gilbert Sees LeBron James As Runaway Slave

Just Say Je88e

Reverend Jesse Jackson is upset with the open letter written by Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert after LeBron James  decided to make a move to Miami on national television. King With No Rings Is Even Taking Some From New York

New York State Of Mind

LeBron James has admitted he didn’t call up anyone on the Cleveland Cavaliers personally on the day he decided to leave for the Miami Heat.

Kiss My Ass LeBron Website Launched

The website kissmyasslebron.com has now been launched and they rolled out one of the funniest slogan t-shirts I have ever witnessed. The shirt along with other chuckle worthy t-shirts can be yours for as little as $15.23.  So where does sports greatest relationship go from here? Does Gloria James fit the bill and fly out towel boy Delonte West for some 305 fun or keep it dirty in the mistake by the lake?

WTF: Dan Gilbert

Quenn LBJ

Dan Gilbert bitter over LeBron James departure to Miami Heat has decided to lower the cost of the King With No Rings Fathead. But it’s no ordinary price cut, Gilbert the owner of the Cavaliers slashed the King With No Rings price from $99 to that of $17.41, the year that Benedict Arnold was born.

Arnold was an American general that unsuccessfully plotted to surrender West Point to the British but when the plot was exposed he jumped ship to the British Army to become a brigadier general during the American Revolutionary War.

Congratulations Arnold, in the eyes of Gilbert and anyone that buys one of these Fatheads, you live on in James.

Cleveland Cavaliers Owner Trashes LeBron James In Letter

Queen LBJ

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert has written an open letter to Cavs fans, slamming LeBron James for his national television appearance announcing his decision to leave.

Dear Cleveland, all of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers supporters wherever you may be tonight;

As you now know, our former hero, who grew up in the very region that he deserted this evening, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced with a several-day, narcissistic, self-promotional build-up culminating with a national TV special of his “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership team and the rest of the hard-working, loyal, and driven staff over here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than exciting future. Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight: “I personally guarantee that the Cleveland Cavaliers will win an NBA Championship before the self-titled former ‘king’ wins one.”

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they should go to heaven but NOT have to die to get there.

Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our homegrown “chosen one” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former “King” will be taking the “curse” with him down south. And until he does “right” by Cleveland and Ohio, James (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland. Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day…

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge and experience will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue…

Dan Gilbert
Majority Owner
Cleveland Cavaliers

Awesome, oh and Gilbert I can see your already committed in winning a championship before Miami with your hiring of Bryon Scott and no general manager.

2010 NBA Finals Most Viewed Since 2001

Est. 1946

ABC averaged a 10.6 rating and 18.1 million viewers for the 2010 NBA Finals, up 26% in ratings and viewership from Los Angeles Lakers/Orlando Magic last year (8.4, 14.3 mil, five games), up 14% and 21% from Boston Celtics/Los Angeles Lakers in 2008 (9.3, 14.9 mil, six games), and up 71% and 95% from San Antonio Spurs/Cleveland Cavaliers in 2007 (6.2, 9.3 mil, four games).

This marks the most-viewed NBA Finals since Los Angeles Lakers/Philadelphia 76ers on NBC in 2001 (19.0 mil), and the second most-viewed since Chicago Bulls/Utah Jazz in 1998 (29.0 mil), Michael Jordan’s last NBA Finals.

This is only the second time since 1998 that the NBA Finals has averaged at least 18 million viewers. This only the second time in the past eight years that the NBA Finals has averaged a double-digit rating.

Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics outdrew the last two seven-game NBA Finals San Antonio Spurs/Detroit Pistons in 2005 (12.5 mil) and Houston Rockets/New York Knicks in 1994 (17.3 mil).

Of the 15 NBA Finals since 1990 that did not involve Jordan and the Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics is the third-most viewed, behind the Los Angeles Lakers/Philadelphia 76ers series in 2001 (19.0 mil) and Houston Rockets/Orlando Magic in 1995 (20.1 mil).

However the Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics ranks as the fifth-lowest rated NBA Finals to involve the Los Angeles Lakers in the past thirty years (15 series). It’s ahead of only Los Angeles Lakers/New Jersey Nets in 2002 (10.2), Los Angeles Lakers/Boston Celtics in 2008 (9.3), Los Angeles Lakers/Orlando Magic in 2009 (8.4) and Los Angeles Lakers/Philadelphia 76ers in 1980 (8.0).

For perspective, the 2010 NBA Finals finished behind the 2009 World Series, which averaged an 14.7 rating and 23.4 million viewers for six games.

The final game of the 2010 NBA Finals saw its largest audience and it was its largest for an NBA game since the end of the Chicago Bulls dynasty.

The Los Angeles Lakers Game 7 win over the Celtics drew a 15.6/27 final rating and 28.2 million viewers on ABC.

This marks the highest rated, most-viewed NBA game on any network since Chicago Bulls/Utah Jazz Game 6 in 1998, topping the previous highs of 14.7 Indiana Pacers/Los Angeles Lakers Game 6 in 2000 and 23.8 million viewers Los Angeles Lakers/Sacramento Kings Game 7 in 2002.

Additionally, this is easily the highest rated, most-viewed NBA game ever on ABC, topping the previous high of 13.8 and 21.8 million viewers for Los Angeles Lakers/Detroit Pistons Game 5 in 2004. This is the first time since that 2004 series that any NBA game has surpassed 20 million viewers.

Despite the big numbers Boston Celtics/Los Angeles Lakers finished behind previous Game 7s in the NBA Finals. New York Knicks/Houston Rockets Game 7 drew a 17.9 on NBC in 1994, Detroit Pistons/Los Angeles Lakers Game 7 drew a 21.2 on CBS in 1988, and Los Angeles  Lakers/Boston Celtics Game 7 drew a 19.3 rating on CBS in 1984.
