Harvard Baseball Team Lip Syncs Call Me Maybe

If you’re not living under a rock then you know that Carly Rae Jepsen song “Call Me Maybe” is everywhere. Take a look in Calvin Casey’s iPod and it’s there, search YouTube and you will find pretty much every college campus has a version, hell even Justin Bieber, Ashley Tisdale and the Biebs girlfriend Selena Gomez have lip synched to it.

Now comes the Harvard baseball team doing their rendition all the while teammate Jack Colton remains asleep. Look out for the wink, it steals the show.

Portraits Of Michael Jordan Shaved Into Man’s Head

Not sure if the kid sitting in the barber chair was old enough to remember Michael Jordan in a Chicago Bulls uniform but that didn’t stop Joe da Barber at Razor Sharp Cutz from doing great clip work. By the way Joe da Barber is from San Antonio.

Wonder if Calvin Casey will consider asking Joe da Barber to put Peyton Manning into his dome if he signs with the Denver Broncos?

Andre Iguodala Compares Jeremy Lin To Black Hockey Player

Ball So Hard

Boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr caused a stir earlier this week when he said all the hype surrounding New York Knicks sensation Jeremy Lin was because he was Asian. Philadelphia 76ers forward Andre Iguodala listens to the Sports Grind Entertainment on iHeart Radio and went one further than Calvin Casey’s explanation of the Williams sisters to the tennis game and said Lin is like a black hockey player.

“Jeremy Lin is a good player but all the hype is because he’s Asian. Black players do what he does every night and don’t get the same praise,” Mayweather wrote.

Iguodala agreed Lin’s race, as he is the first Asian-American to start an NBA game, has factored in the attention he is receiving, but did not want to detract from what the former Harvard star was achieving on the court.

“When you see the majority doing it you say, ‘Ah, he’s been doing it since he was a kid. It’s in his blood, whatever. You see Lin doing it and you say, ‘You’re serious?’ It’s kind of like seeing a black hockey player doing well. Race does play a role in it but at the same time you have to respect it, that’s how I feel. You have to respect it whether you like it or not. It’s a feel-good story.”

Lin hit a game-winning three with less than a second on the clock against the Toronto Raptors Tuesday and then added a career high 13 assists against the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday.

His No. 17 jersey has become the league’s top seller, while Madison Square Garden Co.’s share price has soared to an all-time high.

Iguodala said the interesting thing will be seeing if Lin can maintain his success long-term.

“He’s only six games in the league. Game 30, game 40, that’s where you can kind of see where a guy’s at,” he said.

Blue And Orange

Pittsburgh Steelers fans had Wiz Kahlifa’s ‘Black and Yellow’ last year and now Denver Broncos fans have J-rod’s ‘Blue and Orange.’

Calvin Casey, a life long Broncos fan, is probably somewhere saying exactly, especially on the parts about the Three Amigos, but with the exception for the parts that has to do with Tim Tebow.

His credit line for the Broncos succes  goes as follows defense, John Fox, John Elway, special teams, college scouts, medical staff, water boy, towel boy, equipment manager, ticket taker, beer vendor, parking lot attendant, and then finally Tebow.

NFL Thinking Of Adding 2nd Game In London

Calvin Casey Is All for This

If commissioner Roger Goodell has his way, the NFL could play two games in London during its 2013 season. That idea is subject to a vote of owners on October 11 where owners are scheduled to meet then to decide whether to continue having games in Great Britain.

This season’s game at Wembley Stadium pits the Chicago Bears and Tampa Bay Buccaneers on October 23. NFL teams have been playing in London since 2007′s game between the Miami Dolphins and New York Giants. Earlier this summer, Bears linebacker Brian Urlacher gave London games a thumbs down.

“No, I’m not excited to go to London,” he said in a radio interview. “I don’t understand why they do that. … I am not excited to go to London, I will say that. I can’t imagine many players would be, considering the travel involved and disruption to their weekly schedule.”

Last season, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the Denver Broncos 24-16 at Wembley.

Chad Ochocinco’s Fish Aquarium Bedroom

On Another Level

New England Patriots wide receiver Chad Ochocinco has taken the “playa” level up another notch when he recently showed off pictures of his amazing fish tanks he had installed in his bedroom and living room at his Florida mansion. His fiancee Evelyn Lozada says she can’t stop staring at the fish every time she goes to bed.

The unique aquarium was created by Wayde King and Brett Raymer, the stars of the new hit reality show Tanked on Animal Planet, which airs at 8pm CST on Fridays. The brothers-in-law create fish tanks in all shapes and sizes for everything from casinos to fast food restaurants and are the largest aquarium manufacturer in the United States.

Calvin Casey is not impressed. He’s seen better.

John Elway Leg Tattoo

Via Last Angry Fan

That’s the leg of Joey Bouchard, a die hard Denver Broncos fan and huge John Elway fan, whose fandom puts others to shame. Bouchard covered his entire left leg with the orange Broncos jersey color along with the iconic number 7  and the cherry on top being Elway’s face smack dab on the thigh. Very, very, nice work.

Your move Calvin Casey.

New Jersey Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov Elected Russian Party Chief

Calvin Casey's Idol

Back on May 17, we posted the report that New Jersy Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov was entering into Russian politics. Today we are reporting that the billionaire Nets owner is the new head of a Kremlin-friendly political party. Prokhorov was unanimously elected head of the Right Cause party by its members.

Addressing party members Prokhorov underlined that Right Cause would focus on building a viable capitalism in Russia, but added socialism still had its place in Russian society.

“Our main slogan, ‘Capitalism for all,’ is not true. That’s not possible. Capitalism is only for people who like to take risks, who like to take this responsibility upon themselves. An intelligent, professional and fair state should give others social guarantees and support,” Prokhorov said.

Dallas Cowboys Tony Romo’s Wedding

Prenup?

Usually we could care less about athletes getting married but when your Calvin Casey’s favorite National Football League player we make exceptions. Yesterday Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo got married to Candice Crawford in front of owner Jerry Jones, who recieved special permission to attend, and over 600 sports stars, celebrities and friends in the Dallas area.

Romo and Crawford got engaged last December on her 24th birthday.

New Jersey Nets Owner Mikhail Prokhorov Entering Russian Politics

Calvin Casey's Idol

New Jersey Nets owner Mikhail Prokhorov and Russian billionaire announced that he would lead a Russian political party with close ties to the Kremlin. The decision is a part of a Kremlin effort to provide an alternative for Russians not satisfied with the country’s dominant political party United Russia.

Prokhorov said he would head the Just Cause party what he later called in televised remarks “an uneasy and somewhat surprising decision.” The establishing of the party is widely seen by critics as an attempt by the Kremlin to lure opposition-minded, pro-business voters, while creating an illusion of competition with the ruling United Russia party ahead of election.

Voting begins in December.

MLB Predictions

Est. 1869

What’s lies ahead in the 2011 Major League Baseball season, well no one knows for sure but Opening Day is upon us and it’s time to roll out a few predictions. I can only hope to match last year when I picked the San Francisco Giants to win it all and then right before the World Series started calling it over in five games, which had a few local industry folk laughing at the gesture cause it was against their beloved Texas Rangers.

If you happened to listen to our live show a week ago then you already heard a few of these but a few have been added before today’s first pitch. So here I go (wish Calvin Casey and Rudy J would have participated).

Enjoy opening day, enjoy the season. I know I will.

Los Angeles Lakers Ron Artest Names His Top 5 Athletes/MC’s

Naturally when AllHipHop.com went to Los Angeles Lakers Ron Artest with the question, “who is in your top 5 athlete MC’s list” his answers would be quite interesting. Shaquille O’Neal, Allen Iverson, Deion Sanders, Joe Smith, and Jerry Stackhouse all made Ron-Ron’s cut. While Ronnie Price, Grant Hill, Chris Webber, and Tyreke Evans got an honorable mention.

Been trying to tell Rudy J and Calvin Casey for years that Joe Beast has skills.

Cincinnati Reds Jonny Gomes Celebrates St. Louis Cardinals Adam Wainwright’s Injury

Second Worst NL Outfielder Behing Matt Holliday

The Cincinnati Reds and St. Louis Cardinals have developed a heated rivalry with last season brawl and players saying things about each others club through the media, not to mention the two have been battling each other for first place. Yesterday the Cardinals received terrible news that their ace Adam Wainwright has an elbow injury that could require Tommy John surgery. That news was the talk of the baseball world yesterday and does that dim the lights on the Cardinals chances of postseason play.

However, one person took the news in stride and that was Reds outfielder Jonny Gomes who when hearing of the news to Wainwright could be heard celebrating about the injury.

“Wainwright’s gone, Wainwright’s gone, Wainwright’s gone,” he sang joyously.

Nice to see Gomes celebrating another athletes injury, you can say sportsmanship at its very finest. Curious if this will ruffle Calvin Casey’s feathers as when Mark Buehrle wished injury upon Michael Vick?

Youtube Sensation Keenan Cahill Lip Syncs ‘GO NY GO’

Calvin Casey’s favorite Youtube sensation Keenan Cahill takes on “GO NY GO” with New York Knicks Landry Fields, Andy Rautins and the Knicks City Dancers.

WTF: Alaska Aces

Clowns

It may be Calvin Casey’s favorite time of the year but Valentines Day doesn’t mean professional sport teams should transform their uniforms to best resemble the day as done by ECHL’s Alaska Aces did.

Surfing World Champion Stephanie Gilmore Beaten With Iron Bar

TALENT

Sports Grind Entertainment President Calvin Casey is a huge surfing enthusiast and that time of year is quickly approaching when he takes his annual trip Hawaii to mash up on some waves, for those that are still unaware, asked me to post this sad story of World Surfing Champion Stephanie Gilmore. The four-time world surfing champion was beaten with an iron bar and suffered a broken wrist as she returned home to her apartment yesterday in Australia’s Gold Coast.

The 22-year-old surfer fought off the intruder, who was captured later by friends and neighbors when he returned to the area. The attacker is 26 and has been charged with numerous offenses by police. Gilmore was struck twice and also suffered cuts to her head, and told the Gold Coast Bulletin she would be sidelined for about six weeks.

2010 SGE’s Monday Night Football Champion: Salami

2010 MNF Champion Salami

The 2010 Monday Night Football season has come to a close with a back in forth game between the New Orleans Saints and Atlanta Falcons and that means it’s time to for Rudy J to hand the Monday Night Football Championship belt back over to myself. The 2010 season was not even close as I smoked the other guys for the widest margin of victory in the history of Sports Grind Entertainment, and we’ve have been doing this since 2004.

The final records for everyone involved was:

Salami         15-2

Rudy J         10-7

Calvin          7-10

As with every year the winner gets the distinction of being number 1, a round of drinks, and this year gets a brand new Flip MinoHD.

Reebok & Washington Wizard John Wall Want You Design His Shoe

Nice

If you an NBA or Calvin Casey and just a fan of Washington Wizards John Wall Reebok has come up with a contest for you to take advantage of. Wall and Reebok are running a contest to design a pair of ZigSlash sneakers on Reebok.com for Wall to wear All-star weekend in Los Angeles. If Wall doesn’t pick yours, you can still purchase them from Reebok.com for $125.

10 finalists will win a pair of their customized ZigSlash shoes and Wall will pick his favorite for All-Star 2011, and the winner gets flown out to Los Angeles to watch him wear them on site.

If you prefer patent leather, synthetic leather or nubuck, it’s up to you.

WTF: NFL

Calvin Casey's Christmas Gift

I don’t even know what to make of this except that they are very scary looking, I couldn’t see myself coming home from the bar at 2:00 in the morning to see these staring back at me. What your looking at is a very limited 3D Player images from the EA Sports Madden video game series that stand 3.6 inches in a 4.5 inch display case. They can be yours for the reduce holiday cost of $48.95, not the usual $69.95, so hurry order one now before they’re gone.

Just glad to see the NFL and NFLPA agree that this was an idea worthy enough for them to sign off on in reproducing their likeliness.

30 Years Ago Monday Night Football Announced John Lennon’s Death

Monday Night Football and the Beatles John Lennon are two of Calvin Casey’s most favorite things in the world. In fact in show prep Calvin always has a Lennon song playing right up until the Grinding beat starts up. But 30 years ago today his world was rocked when his first love had to break the horrible news to the country that Lennon had been shot and killed outside his apartment.

On this tragic day Calvin Casey and many others out there are still heartbroken.

Chicago Bulls Joakim Noah & NFL Hall Of Famer John Elway Share Steam Room

Lilo & Stitch

Coming from the Chicago Tribune is this awkward tale about two grown men in a steam room together, right? But not just two ordinary men but that of Chicago Bulls Joakim Noah and NFL legend and Hall of Famer John Elway

“Kind of awkward,” said the Noah.

During the Bulls recent “circus trip,” the team spent Thanksgiving in Denver and hear of the encounter from Noah.

“I was in the (hotel) steam room by myself,” Noah said Tuesday, “just focusing and enjoying the day off and Thanksgiving. And (Elway) just came in. I don’t know too many football players, but I know him. It was kind of weird, but it’s a true story. … It was a weird moment, kind of awkward. I was going to say something, but I thought maybe he just wants to spend some time alone to just chill.”

Not much else to Noah’s story but since he is Calvin Casey’s favorite basketball player this become worthy of a post.

A ‘Paddle Out’ For Surfer Andy Irons

To let you in on a little unknown fact about Sports Grind entertainment founder Calvin Casey and that’s every summer the boss man will take time to get away so he can hit up some of Maui’s best waves as hes an undercover surfing fanatic. Back on November 2, tragedy stuck the surfing community when 32-year-old surfer Andy Irons died after reportedly battling dengue fever, a viral disease in Grapevine, Texas as he was heading back to his home in Hawaii.

Colleagues, family, and friends recently held a paddle out for their fallen chum in Homenagem Kauai, Hawaii and since Calvin was unable to attend the event he wanted me to share this video.

Portland Trail Blazers Greg Oden Out For The Year Again & Wears Perfect T-Shirt To Tell You

Perfect

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden and former number one overall draft pick, which Calvin Casey said was a good one at the time, will have microfracture surgery on his left knee and will not play this season. Oden has only played in 82 total games since being drafted number one in 2007. The Blazers picked Oden instead of Kevin Durant, who went to the Oklahoma City Thunder and has blossomed into one of the NBA’s best players.

Oden hasn’t played since last December because he needed surgery to repair a fractured left patella. The Blazers say this operation, will repair damaged cartilage and is unrelated to the patella injury.

The Blazers announced last month they would not offer Oden a contract extension. He was the first No. 1 pick since Kwame Brown not to get one at the end of his rookie contract. Oden will be a restricted free agent next summer and the Blazers will be able to match any offers for him.

The center has already earned over $15 million dollars and will earn another $6 million at the end of this season bringing his average per game to $265,811.24 in the 82 he has only been able to play in.

By the way look at Oden’s shirt in the above picture, pretty much describes everything.
