WTF: Ben Roethlisberger

That's Just Dirty

This is the bathroom where Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger suddenly became a punchline for an Eminem song. I still will never for the life of me understand why he was in a town of 12 people but that’s besides the point.

Notice the police circles in the bottom right corner of Big Ben’s sloppy body fluids.

Make-A-Wish Kid Tries To Unsuspend Ben Roethlisberger

Timing Is Everything Zach

During the NFL Draft just before the Pittsburgh Steelers first-round selection was announced the crowd chanted, “She said no,” in reference to details from the police investigation of Ben Roethlisberger alleged sexual assault.

What made the chants especially notable was that Pittsburgh’s pick was to be announced by Zach Hatfield, a 15-year-old who suffers from acute promyelocytic leukemia and who endured a heart attack last summer. The crowd’s jeers turned to cheers right when NFL commissioner Roger “Godfather” Goodell handed the microphone over to Hatfield.

While backstage with Goodell, the teenager asked the commissioner if “maybe you could unsuspend Ben Roethlisberger?” Goodell declined to accomodate Hatfield’s request.

“And I mentioned to the commissioner, I asked him, ‘So, do you think maybe you could unsuspend Ben Roethlisberger?’ The commissioner just kind of smiled and said, ‘I don’t think we can do that.’ “

Roethlisberger is currently suspended for six games and is forced to undergo a “comprehensive behavior.” More importantly let the Steeler fans down especially a sick teenager named Zach, who was willing to trade his Make-A-Wish in.

Ben Roethlisberger Not An Eminem Fan (NSFW)

“…I’d rather turn this club into a bar room brawl. Get as rowdy as Roethlisberger in a bathroom stall”

Well at least Roethlisberger probably isn’t his biggest fan right now. Killer line though, just might even start using it in everyday life.

The Most Expensive Trophy In The World

Just 43 Days Away

With the World Cup just 43 days away the final preparations are being made to enable the event to be the showcase for soccer the way it’s supposed to be. With that the FIFA World Cup Trophy is making it’s way around the world with fun facts before alighting in South Africa.

One of the fun facts to be reveled is that the World Cup trophy is a solid 11 pounds of 18k gold, which makes it worth $20 million.

Of course, the winning nation doesn’t get to keep the trophy permanently, but the winning nation instead receives a replica of the trophy that is merely gold-plated rather than solid.

Because of its value the trophy travels with an entourage that dwarfs Ben Roethlisberger and Pacman Jones combined with of 20 security guards.

Mama Margie’s Major Meltdown: Ben Roethlisberger

Ben Roethlisberger

Every Thursday Sports Grind Entertainment will present you with the Mama Margie’s Major Meltdown. The recipient of this honor goes to Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger who has been suspended 6 games by NFL Commissioner Roger “Godfather” Goodell.

Commissioner Goodell notified Steelers quarterback that he must undergo a comprehensive behavioral evaluation by medical professionals and will be suspended without pay for the first six games of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the NFL in violation of the league’s personal conduct policy.

After consultation with Goodell, Steelers President Art Rooney and the commissioner informed Roethlisberger by telephone Wednesday of the two-step approach that is designed to hold Roethlisberger accountable for his conduct and provide him an opportunity to change his behavior and establish himself as a responsible individual.

In a letter to Roethlisberger, Goodell said that Roethlisberger must adhere to any counseling or treatment that is recommended by the professional evaluators to help him make better decisions and avoid situations that can cause legal or other problems. A professional behavioral evaluation is mandatory for anyone that has violated the personal-conduct policy.

Roethlisberger may not attend any team offseason activity after yesterday until he has completed the evaluation and the evaluating professionals confirm with the commissioner that Roethlisberger may resume football activities. If cleared, Roethlisberger will be able to participate in training camp and preseason games this summer.

The commissioner said he would review Roethlisberger’s progress under the plan prior to the start of the regular season and consider whether to reduce the suspension to four games. Failure to cooperate and follow the plan could result in a longer suspension.

In all it will cost Roethlisberger $2,841,174 in pay missed.

WTF: Washington Nationals

Was It Battle Of Sexes Day?

What a time with for the Washington Nationals to be promoting violence against women. I mean really, hasn’t Ben Roethlisberger or Tiger Woods been enough on them already?

Not very fan friendly.

WTF: Tiger Woods/Ben Roethlisberger

Bosum Buddies

It’s Sunday and just killing a little time with random image searches in Google waiting for the San Antonio Spurs vs Dallas Mavericks tip off and stumbled upon this little current gem.

I know this is an old photo because look at Urkel he has hair or a lot more than he currently has. But somewhere along the lines one of these two sex manics wanted to meet the other and someone got the photo. I wonder if there’s a secret sex society that brought them together?

WTF: Ben Roethlisberger/Jesse James

Separated At Birth

Yes we know that the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger already cut his mullet but since one of our callers pointed out the similarity a few days back on our show, we thought we should do our part and pay our respect with a side by side. Thanks for that twin shot out.

Trash meet fellow trash.

Quiznos Toasty Topic: Ben Roethlisberger

Ben Roethlisberger

Every Wednesday Sports Grind Entertainment presents you with the Quiznos Toasty Topic. Today the toasty topic to be discussed is the situation surrounding Pittsburgh Steelers Super Bowl winning quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Earlier in the week Roethlisberger learned that he would not be charged with sexual assault, because Ocmulgee district attorney Fred Bright said that the charge could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Roethlisberger who was accused of the sexual assault in early March by a college student in Milledgeville, Georgia at a nightclub. Roethlisberger admitted to having sexual contact with his accuser while his bodyguards blocked access to the bathroom in which the sexual encounter took place.

While Roethlisberger would not not face criminal charges, he still had to meet with NFL commissioner Roger “Godfather” Goodell yesterday on whether he would face a suspension or other any disciplinary measures. The meeting with in Manhattan was productive but there was no hint on whether any disciplinary actions would come about.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello says the league will review the facts and will follow up with Roethlisberger and the Steelers but no time line is to be set. The possible options include a suspension, fine or having the $102 million quarterback undergo counseling or rehabilitation.

He is expected to join his teammates Monday for offseason practice, the first time he has taken the field since the Steelers season-ending victory over Miami in January. The team’s veteran players have been involved in conditioning for several weeks, but Roethlisberger skipped those sessions to avoid being a distraction.

A leader on the field, the current situation has shown the six year two time Super Bowl champion has poor judgment off it. The situation has already cost the quarterback one of relatively few endorsement deals he has when PLB Sports, the company behind Doug Flutie’s “Flutie Flakes” cereal, announced he would no longer endorse its line of beef jerky.

Terry Bradshaw Lets Ben Roethlisberger & World Know How He Feels

Former Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback and Hall of Famer Terry Bradshaw is not known for being a super smart guy.  But when it comes to speaking the truth about the pitfalls and the dangers of being a quarterback in the NFL, he knows a thing or two.

Here he is on his old campus of Louisiana Tech University reviling to a group of reporters how he feels about Ben Roethlisberger and the situation he has put himself into.  Before you criticize Bradshaw for speaking the truth just consider, if this was coming up during the NFL season it would behoove him not to speak on it, it’s just now he is doing it for free and not on FOX’s dime/time. When your actions are so stupid that you make Bradshaw look mature and wise, it’s time to repeatedly slam your head in a car door until you die from it or start smelling emotions.

Even Without A “Love Contract” Ben Roethlisberger Faces No Charges

That’s right even without a “Love Contract” Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will not be charged with sexual assault. Ocmulgee district attorney Fred Bright said that the charge could not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

Roethlisberger was accused of the sexual assault in early March, the second time he has face such an accusation in the past year. A college student alleged that the two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback assaulted her at a Milledgeville, Ga. nightclub.

While Roethlisberger will not face criminal charges, he still could face a suspension or other disciplinary measures from the NFL or Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers quarterback will meet with NFL commissioner Roger “Godfather” Goodell later today.

Roger Goodell To Meet With Ben Roethlisberger

Poosie Just Falling Out Your Pocket

NFL commissioner Roger “Godfather” Goodell indicated that he plans to meet with Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger about the sexual assault allegations against him.

“At the appropriate time, I’ll be meeting with Ben,” Goodell said. “The most important thing is we take the issue seriously. We are concerned that Ben continues to put himself in this position.”

This is not the first or second time Roethlisberger has been involved with something that has embarrassed himself, his team and the league. People overlooked the motorcycle crashed because he almost died. People overlooked the first sexual assault accusation because it was a civil suit.

Now it appears the claims against Roethlisberger are being taken seriously but “Godfather” needs to weigh all facts and  remember he did suspended Adam Pacman Jones, who never did spend one day in jail of anything he was “accused” and yet was suspend indefinitely.

Remember commish: fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

Tiger Woods Sex Doll Could Be Illegal

Wheres The Phil Mickelson Sex Doll

That Tiger Woods sex doll you own could soon be a very rare collectors item and illegal, remember collectors want there items in mint coniditon.

Woods lawyers are demanding that the manufacturer Pipedream Productions suspend all sales and destroy its stock of the Tiger Woods sex dolls. They are threating to sue and have sent out a cease and desist letter that states Pipedream destroys of the product in a manner and at a time as directed by Tiger.

Will the “high-quality, moisture-resistant, realistic-feeling material,” Tiger live on and end up in households across America or will Tigers reputation remain in intact with the help of Johnny Cochran.

Ben Roethlisberger is not impressed.

WTF: Sgt. Jerry Blash

Wouldn't You Like To Know What I Just Did?

Pittsburgh Steelers Ben Roethlisberger was accompanied by two off-duty cops and a teammate the night of his second alleged sexual assault. But a local police sergeant, Sgt. Jerry Blash, posed for pictures with the two-time Super Bowl champion is the same officer who initially investigated the sexual assault complaint.

Ben Roethlisberger Expected Back In Georgia To Face Investigation

Poosie Just Falling Out Your Pocket

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is expected back in Georgia in a couple of days to be interviewed by state investigators in an alleged sexual assault of a college student at a nightclub in Milledgeville.

Milledgeville police say the NFL superstar and his 20-year-old accuser visited several bars late Thursday night before the alleged attack. The unidentified woman claims she was “sexually assaulted or sexually manipulated” by a man, police said. The woman, treated and released from Oconee Regional Medical Center, approached one of the citys officers in the downtown area saying she’d been sexually assaulted by the suspect described in the police report.

“He’s been identified as being at the scene,” Milledgeville police Deputy Chief Richard Malone said of Roethlisberger.

Investigators are collecting additional evidence, and more than a dozen investigators have been involved in the case. Investigators interviewed between seven and nine people, including the woman, Roethlisberger and everyone in their parties.

A woman who asked not to be named said she saw Roethlisberger and the young woman at two bars, The Velvet Elvis and The Brick.

Roethlisberger has a winter home in Reynolds Plantation, a resort community on Lake Oconee in Greensboro.

Ben Roethlisberger Accused Of Sexual Assault Again

Poosie Just Falling Out Your Pocket

A Georgia woman has accused Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger of sexual assault according to TMZ Sports. This is the second accusation in less than 12 months.

TMZ reports that the alleged assault took place early Friday morning at a club in Milledgeville, Georgia, and that the alleged victim has been treated and released. The alleged assault took place in the bathroom at Capital City, a nightclub in Milledgeville.

Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault before: in 2009, a woman named Andrea McNulty accused Big Ben of a 2008 sexual assault that took place in Reno, Nevada. That case was never pursued criminally and the civial case is still pending though.

Is Big Ben just an unlucky guy or does he like to get physical once he hears the word no?

ESPN Lies About Reporting On Civil Rape Allegations

So Quickly Too

Former Dallas Cowboy and current NFL Network analyst Michael Irvin has been accused of rape by women who has filed a civil suit against the Hall of Fame receiver for an alleged July 2007 sexual assault.

But back in July (when I first posted on the 22) during Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was alleged to have raped a Nevada women, the “Leader” completely ignored the fact. ESPN went as far as issuing a ‘DO NOT REPORT’ memo to all of its outlets and reporters. ESPN went as far as saying it had previously established a company policy to not report on civil cases involving athletes.

But that policy did not stop ESPN from covering Randy Moss alleged battery against a woman in January ‘08. There were no criminal charges; Moss was slapped with a restraining order against the woman.

ESPN even reported on the intention of a woman to sue Los Angeles Lakers guard Shannon Brown over an alleged sex-related incident earlier this year. When Brown was notified that he would be sued for an alleged sex-related incident in June of ’09, ESPN.com was there with the story. And this was not a mere recycling of an Associated Press piece. This was a detailed piece on a story that was “confirmed to ESPN’s Shelley Smith on June 3, 2009.”

Eventually ESPN reported on the Roethlisberger story once the news broke that there would be no criminal investigation into the allegations.

Fast forward to February 2010 and ESPN is back on reporting on an African American athlete who is wrapped up in a civil case over in which the district attorney has made said that an announcement whether to pursue legal charges will come about sometime next week.

Ironically, Irvin has been fired effective immediately from ESPN Radio 103.3 in Dallas. According to the Dallas Morning News, ESPN planned to drop Irvin following the Super Bowl, but the sexual assault suit “expedited” the process.

An ESPN spokesman told the Dallas Morning News that Irvin’s show “was not performing and we had previously determined to end the show.”

So does the Alleged Worldwide Leader cater to white athletes?

Watch Out For The Bus

Big Bus

Big Bus

Jerome Bettis seems to be enjoying life outside of football, last year he was in a trial run for himself with the NBC Sunday Night Football crew and this year he beyond getting his feet wet as a blogger for Sports Illustrated. The Bus isn’t afraid of of criticizing anyone, that includes his former team the Pittsburgh Steelers who where last year Super Bowl champs.

In his new Sports Illustrated column, Bettis singles out the Steelers running game as being the factor that could derail the Pittsburgh’s attempt at a repeat. He singles out Willie Parker, Rashard Mendenhall, Frank Summers and the offensive line. But he calls out the Steelers coaching staff as the biggest problem because they ignored the problem.

“This problem isn’t anything new, and I blame the coaching staff for not addressing the line in the offseason. How did they rationalize not doing anything about it? Well, they won a Super Bowl. They won’t be so lucky twice in a row. If Ben continues to get hit the way he did Thursday — the same way he did last year, then this will come back to haunt the Steelers. Ben will get hurt. Ben will miss games. And they don’t have a line to run behind without Ben. Pittsburgh can’t repeat with the line playing like this.”

Keep making statements about your former team like these and I wonder if your next dinner tab is generously picked up in Pittsburgh?

Look Who Came To The Ben Party

11:27 P.M.

11:27 P.M.

Late last night ESPN finally threw their hat into the ring on the report of Ben Roesthlisberger. Although it was brief and centered more around how there’s no intention of criminal charges to filed, at least now ESPN is not acting like Lake Tahoe and Andrea McNulty never happened.  But what happened to ‘company policy’ that ESPN does not report on athletes and on going civil suits? Or was the public imaging things when ESPN issued the statement

“At this point, we are not reporting the allegations against Ben Roethlisberger because no criminal complaint has been filed. As far as we know, this is a civil lawsuit that Roethlisberger has yet to address publicly, ESPN considers it a private matter and not news.”

Here’s ESPN first acknowledgment of the situation which came at 11:27 P.M.

ESPN Is Ignoring The Ben Roethlisberger Story

WHY The Silence?

WHY The Silence?

ESPN lets a lot of athletes through their “carwash” of interviews on a regular basis, and there’s obviously some that they have cushy relationships with. However, it’s honestly rare that they choose to ignore certain items, about said athletes, entirely. The “Leader” is completely ignoring the fact that Ben Roethlisberger is being sued by woman in Nevada. Obviously saying that a pro athlete “sexually assaulted” you, has become taboo at this point, but there should absolutely be a mention of it somewhere.

ESPN’s silence on the Ben Roethlisberger lawsuit is no accident. Pro Football Talk reports that ESPN ” issued a ‘DO NOT REPORT’ memo to all of its outlets and reporters” late last night, with no explanation. A source told Pro Football Talk that “some of the reporters are wondering why, but haven’t been told.”

Last year, ESPN issued a similar memo in regards to allegations that former-Packer Brett Farve gave secrets to the Lions prior to their Week 2 game against the Packers. Their rationale at the time was that the story was not true.

In this case, as Pro Football Talk noted, “ESPN can’t claim that the report of a civil suit alleging sexual assault isn’t true.”

A source tells Deadspin that “it’s a previously established company policy to not report on civil cases involving athletes.” That did not stop ESPN from covering Randy Moss alleged battery against a woman in January ’08. There were no criminal charges; Moss was slapped with a restraining order against the woman. ESPN also reported on a lawsuit against Marvin Harrison in a case that has not resulted in criminal charges.

ESPN even reported on the intention of a woman to sue Laker guard Shannon Brown over an alleged sex-related incident earlier this year.

A woman accuses a professional athlete on a championship team of sexual misconduct and plans to sue. The athlete denies the allegations. ESPN reports the allegations.

But this is not Ben Roethlisberger. It’s Shannon Brown, reserve guard for the defending NBA champion Los Angeles Lakers. When Brown was notified that he would be sued for an alleged sex-related incident in June, ESPN.com was there with the story. And this was not a mere recycling of an Associated Press piece. This was a detailed piece on a story that was “confirmed to ESPN’s Shelley Smith on June 3, 2009.” Brown is far from an NBA star, and certainly lacks the national recognition of two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger, who was named in a civil suit over an alleged sexual assault. But while ESPN had no problem reporting on the Brown suit little over a month ago, the Roethlisberger allegations have not been discussed on any ESPN outlet.

In addition, the network’s silence on the story while others report  is a hole to big to ignore and the fact that ESPN jumped all over the Pacman Jones story while refusing to mention Ben Roethlisberger now gives the African American community fodder that the Alleged Worldwide Leader caters to white athletes.

The criticisms may not be true, but as long as ESPN executives continue to hide under their desks on the Roethlisberger story while other outlets continue their investigations, the arrows will continue to be fired at the sports behemoth.
