On July 4th most of America was enjoying time with friends and family to celebrate this country’s birthday, the NFL however was in mourning having lost a trailblazer and MVP.  There where black quarterbacks before him, even in the same origination (Warren Moon) but never had an NFL team step up and hand the origination over like Houston did by selecting McNair third overall in 1995.  With McNair there was never any hidden racial undertones for his play resembled everything that of his predecessors.  His play lead the way for other black quarterbacks to be in the spot light of the NFL most coveted position as a franchise quarterback.  He eventually took his team to Super Bowl XXXIV, leading them to 16 unanswered points and within in one yard of the Lombadri trophy.  He reached the games mountain top yet continued to flourish as he put up one of his best statistical years of his career in 2001 and finished the 2003 season as co-MVP.  Just a year removed from football his life has came to an end, for all far to soon.
