Phil Mickelson Swing Coach Says Hank Haney’s Book Ethical Violations
Hank Haney has broken the bro-code. And that is not sitting well with his colleagues.
Haney, the former swing coach for Tiger Woods, has written “The Big Miss: My Years Coaching Tiger Woods.” The tome details not only Woods on the course but off it as well.
Rick Smith, who used to work with Phil Mickelson, says what happens at Augusta (and Doral, St. Andrews, Pebble Beach) stays at Augusta.
“I would rather be broke and not have a penny to my name before I violate the code of player-teacher confidentiality,” Smith told Farrell Evans of ESPN.com. “In 27 years out here, I’ve never done that. I’m personally upset with Hank because he’s broken and violated our code of ethics. If you have the opportunity and you’re privileged to conversations, you will not and should not share anything from them with anyone. I don’t care who it is…. What Hank did is against the rules….your relationship with these players is for a lifetime…..you can’t put a dollar value on something that is an ethical violation.”
