NFL Player Called Back To Active Duty
New England Patriots practice squad running back Eric Kettani’s dream of playing in the NFL has been put temporarily on hold after he was summoned back to active duty in the Navy Thursday night. Kettani will return to the USS Klakring frigate in Jacksonville, Florida this morning.
“I love my country, and I’m happy to serve it,” Kettani said.
Kettani, who already has served two years of active duty, was given select reserve status in time to report for training camp in July, under the condition that he helped promote the Navy. He returned to the Patriots this season and made their practice squad. He was a fullback on the Midshipmen football team while attending the Naval Academy. Despite his willingness to serve, he has launched an appeal to stay with the team.
“I look forward to continuing my dream of playing for the New England Patriots,” Kettani said.
Indianapolis Colts practice squad defensive back Caleb Campbell (Army) and Philadelphia Eagles practice squad receiver Chad Hall (Air Force) also could be called upon at a moments notice.
