MLB Reveals First Memorabilia Saluting New York Yankees Derek Jeter’s 3000 Hits
New York Yankees Derek Jeter enters tonight’s game only 14 hits away from becoming the first Yankees player to reach 3,000 hits and the marketing of the moment has officially begun. Starting today, Major League Baseball will unveil the first product in what will be a major Jeter merchandising blitz to commemorate the 3,000 hits.
Jeter, MLB and the Yankees have designed a special “DJ3K” silicone bracelet and will be sold in two-packs (one blue, one gray) at $5. A dollar from each sale will go to benefit Jeter’s Turn 2 Foundation and the 2011 Jeter’s Leaders Leadership Conference for high school student leaders from across the country.
The Yankees shortstop will wear the bracelet during tonight’s game against the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. Starting today they’ll be sold at Yankee Stadium, MLB.com and other MLB authorized dealers.
