Metta World Peace Says He Won’t Shake James Harden’s Hand
Los Angeles Lakers Metta World Peace has no intention of apologizing to Oklahoma City Thunder James Harden before the teams play each other Monday night. In fact, World Peace seems more interested in antagonizing Harden—the recipient of a World Peace elbow on April 22 that left him with a concussion—than making amends.
“I don’t shake substitutions’ hands,” World Peace said.
During his appearance on the Conan O’Brien show last week, World Peace implied that he had not apologized to Harden to keep a competitive edge. “I might have to play him in the playoffs, so I don’t really want to talk to him,” World Peace told O’Brien. “But I did make sure he was okay. … I called some third parties and they told me he was doing okay.”
The Lakers know they’ll be met with a hostile environment at Chesapeake Energy Arena for Games 1 and 2.
World Peace isn’t worried about it. “That’s not my concern,” he said. “My concern is playing the game of basketball.”
