Jay Mariotti Suspended By AOL Following Arrest On Domestic Violence Charge
We posted back on August 23, about ESPN personality and Fanhouse.com sports columnist Jay Mariotti being arrested on a felony charge following a domestic incident with his girlfriend in Los Angeles has now been suspended from his job at AOL (Fanhouse.com) following his arrest. AOL announced that Mariotti will be suspended for the time being. The New York Times reports:
“We are continuing to gather all the facts,” said Caroline Campbell, a spokeswoman for AOL. “In the meantime, we have suspended Jay Mariotti and are not featuring any new work from him.”
She would not elaborate on what AOL had learned since Mariotti’s arrest to prompt the suspension. But according to the Los Angeles Times, Mariotti pushed and shoved his girlfriend, leaving marks on her arms. He was released from jail on $50,000 bail hours after his arrest.
No word on a decision from ESPN.
