Golden State Warriors Hire ESPN Analyst Mark Jackson As Head Coach
New Golden State Warriors owner Joe Lacob and Peter Guber vowed that they would not be afraid to take a chance on Keith Smart’s successor, even if that meant hiring someone with little experience. Well, the Warriors got someone with as little experience as possible, hiring 17-year NBA veteran and ESPN announcer Mark Jackson to take the reins of the team.
Jackson, 46, has no experience as a head coach, or as an assistant coach but because of his closeness to the NBA game has landed several interviews for head coaching positions like the Atlanta Hawks, Philadelphia 76ers and New Orleans Hornets.
To signal a change in direction the Warriors brought on Los Angeles Lakers great Jerry West as a consultant and hired former agent Bob Myers as an assistant and possible successor to general manager Larry Riley.
ESPN says he will call the rest of the NBA Finals.
