Former NFLer Ryan Leaf Under Goes Surgery To Remove Tumors From His Brain
Former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf is recovering from surgery to remove a benign tumor from his brain. Leaf had surgery last week and was resting in California after being released from a Santa Monica hospital on Tuesday.
“I am looking forward to resting a bit and being with my family,” Leaf said in a statement. “This was just another bridge for me to cross, and I will continue to live each day to the fullest and give back where I can!”
Leaf hasn’t played in the NFL since 2001. He is considered one of the biggest busts in NFL Draft history after playing in just 21 games for the San Diego Chargers following his selection second overall in 1998. He avoided jail and received 10 years probation in April 2010 after pleading guilty to felony drug charges in Texas. He admitted to being addicted to prescription painkillers at the time.
