David Beckham joined in the campaign to oust the Glazer family from Manchester United ownership when he left the pitch wearing the green and gold scarves that have come to symbolize the fans protests against the club’s owners.

Fans have traded in their red and white scarves for yellow and green, signifying the original colors of the franchise and sending a clear message to the Glazers that running this once-rich franchise into immense financial debt is not acceptable.

It marked Beckham’s first trip back to Old Trafford since leaving Manchester United in 2003, and after mockingly booing the former United captain, the crowd gave him a rousing salute. After the stirring reception Beckham picked up the scarf after it was thrown from the Stretford End on a night when Malcolm Glazer’s sons, Joel and Avram, were inside the stadium to witness the scale of antipathy towards their ownership of the club.

Beckham’s act of public sympathy and solidarity overshadowed two more goals from Wayne Rooney, brings his total to 30, in his pursuit of emulating Cristiano Ronaldo’s total of 42 last season. Rooney’s now has  21 goals in his last 21 games.

After Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco was done Twitter kissing Terrell Owens in  his attempts to land the free agent receiver in the Natti comes word of his own reality show.

Ochocinco has signed a deal with VH1 to play in a new reality dating show called, “The Tournament.” Ochocinco is currently in Los Angeles learning dance moves for his upcoming appearance on ABC “Dancing With The Stars” his pursuing his happiness off the field.

The series is a mix of Ochocicno on-field charisma blended with the drama of the dating pool of 85 women played out in a bracket-style dating tournament. The 10 episode, one-hour series is set to premiere in July 2010.

“The Tournament” will start with Ochocinco finding his first 85 women by traveling all over the country meeting women that may be interested in dating him. Then, during the first episode, he will narrow the playing field down to the sweet sixteen, four women from each of the four regions of the country.

The sixteen chosen women will be invited to join him for the rest of the tournament-style dating competition. Once the competition begins, Ochocinco will follow a tournament bracket where each of the ladies will have an opportunity to spend quality time with him while also facing off against one another in double-dates. The winner of each dating face-off will receive a game ball and move on to the next round of the tournament, while the loser goes home.

The championship date between the two remaining women will result in Ochocinco awarding his chosen love the coveted Championship Ring, the same ring Owens has coveted for years now.

It’s a pretty safe bet that his show will follow the second season of Owens “The T.O. Show” on VH1.

Just A Cost Cutting Decision

TMZ is reporting in a lawsuit filed at the L.A. County Superior Court, Indiana Pacers owner Herb Simon and his Thai supermodel wife, Bui, are accused of firing Claudia Leite after she told her bosses she became pregnant last month.

In the suit, Leite claims the family “feared” that she would want to take a “brief or limited medical leave of absence” around the time the baby was due — and according to Leite, that wasn’t gonna cut it.

The Simons former driver is also suing the couple, claiming they kicked him to the curb when the guy became “disabled with severe infections.”

Both the nanny and the driver claim the Simons also screwed them out of several paychecks — they’re both asking for an unspecified amount of cash.

He Needs You

If your playing in your garage or at your local YMCA, you probably call it ping pong but if your an enthusiast like Rudy J you refer to it as table tennis. Dallas Mavericks coach Rick Carlisle also an avid player is using table tennis to raise money to fight a pancreatic cancer.

Carlisle who in the last 12 months watched as he lost two very good friends, former Detroit Pistons coach Chuck Daly, and Indiana Pacers co-owner Melvin Simon succumbed to the disease. Pancreatic cancer is the most under-screened, but most aggressive form of cancer there is. ‘When the director of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, called Carlisle about participating in a fund-raising event, he instantly raised his ping-pong paddle and wanted to do something different from the typical bowling or golf fundraisers.

If you had followed Sports Grind Entertainment for some time you are well aware that the fight against cancer is something that holds deeply to our heart. So if your in the Dallas weekend stop in on the Purple Ping Pong event on Sunday at SMU’s Moody Coliseum from 1-4 p.m. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under. Ping-pong tables will be set up on the floor of Moody that will include numerous local table-tennis professionals and Olympians taking part in an invitational tournament in the center of the floor.

There will be 16 celebrity teams including J.J. Barea, Dirk Nowitzki, Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Caron Butler. Former Rangers Jim Kern and Jeff Russell will participate, as will Olympic gold-medal winning gymnast Nastia Luiken and Carly Patterson.

The San Antonio Spurs today announced they have signed guard Cedric Jackson from the Erie BayHawks of the NBA Development League to a 10-day contract.  Jackson is the 22^nd call-up of the 2009-10 D-League season.

Jackson, a 6-3 guard, had a brief stint with the Cleveland Cavaliers earlier this year.  He appeared in five games with the Cavs from Jan. 23 to Feb. 12, scoring one point and handing out two assists in nine total minutes. In 30 games with the BayHawks, Jackson averaged 15.8 points, 7.4 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 32.7 minutes.  He posted season-highs of 34 points and 13 assists on Jan. 19 at Austin.

As a senior at Cleveland State in 2009, Jackson was named 2009 Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Horizon League Second Team for the second consecutive season. In two seasons with the Vikings, he had career averages of 12.3 points on .405 shooting, 5.3 rebounds, 5.2 assists and 2.8 steals in 32.2 minutes per game.

Jackson will wear No. 11 for the Silver and Black and will be available for tonight’s game vs. New York.

That’s exactly what happened with the Duke Cameron Crazies busted out a poster board with the “bring da amber lamps” line made famous by the video to the Dukes beatdown of tobacco road rival of North Carolina last week.

Give It Up, He Climbs Mountains On Coney Island

Former NBA player Stephon Marbury is demanding an additional $2 million to return to the Chinese team Shanxi Zhongyu. His reasoning is that it’s just to cold for the Coney Island native.

Marbury signed for $25,000 a month in January and just last month Brave Dragons coach Wu Qinglong praised Marbury for being easy to get along with. Marbury is averaging over 23 points, 9 assists, and 6 rebounds but didn’t help the Braves reach the playoffs.

Come on Shanxi Zhongyu everyone knows that you can buy a decent coat on just $7,324.51 yuan.

Ducks Babysitters Club

Just a day after the latest Oregon Duck football player, linebacker Josh Kaddu, 19, ran into trouble with the law a Craiglist post went up from an Eugene local offering up their services in trying to protect and watch over the Ducks.

Back on February 22 we gave you an in depth look how the Ducks football program is out of control and on the verge of breaking down. But with kind of fans they have in Eugene offering a babysitting service there shouldn’t be anymore outburst.

Daunting as the task my seem the Ducks Babysitters Club could handle it.

Houser The New Madoff

Recently released New Orleans Saints defensive end Charles Grant and current Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey have filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court against their former teammate, Kevin Houser, alleging Houser duped them and other current and former Saints players and coaches into investing more than a million dollars in a film tax credit scam.

Houser is the former special teams long-snapper who was the longest tenured Saints player when he was cut by the team before the 2009 season as news of the tax credit fiasco emerged. Grant and Shockey say Houser, who was a licensed securities broker, convinced them they were buying state tax credits for Louisiana Film Studios, but later it turned out LFS had never applied for the state tax credits.

In all, nearly two dozen former or current Saints players and coaches, including quarterback Drew Brees, Coach Sean Payton and Saints legend Archie Manning, invested $1.7 million to buy what they thought were tax credits for the film studio project in Elmwood. Grant and Shockey’s lawsuit is labeled a class action on behalf of the rest of the investors.

Grant and Shockey allege that Houser actually kept a portion of their money as a commission or finder’s fee. Also, they say that Houser kept secret the fact that the film studio owed hundreds of thousands of dollars to 47 Construction LLC, a company co-owned by Houser and his wife.

Houser’s attorney, Jimmy Castex, said his client and was a victim of the scam by the film studio’s former CEO, Wayne Read. A federal bankruptcy judge ordered the film studio’s assets liquidated last month.

Houser played for the team from 2000 to 2008, exclusively snapping the ball on punts and placekicks.
