Controversy Over ‘Save Second Base’ Breast Cancer Awareness T-Shirts Arises
A Minneapolis poster designer Adam Turman’s has created a t-shirt to help bring awareness in fighting breast cancer but instead has caused a controversy among many women. The ‘Save Second Base’ t-shirt displays the slogan “Don’t Let Breast Cancer Steal Second Base” along with a very robust woman all with the innuendo for copping a feel.
However Kate-Madonna Hindes, who is currently suffering from cancer saw the image on Turman’s site and took to Twitter to voice her displeasure causing an outrage of offended women.
The t-shirts Truman are selling on his website go for $25 with all of the proceeds, he says, goes back to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer an American Cancer Society. The only costs that the consumer is paying for is the wholesale cost of the shirts and inks. Turman having donated his artwork, time and money to help creating awareness against the cause never in wild dreams thought it would spew so much controversy.
Is it distasteful or just another means in trying to find a cure in one of the leading causes of death in the United States?
