Popeye Jones son is No. 1 hockey prospect
When Jay-Z sits courtside at Brooklyn Nets games, he is only a few feet away from Popeye Jones. Now comes word that the two could get closer. Seth Jones, Popeye’s hockey-playing son, is the latest high-profile athlete that Jay-Z would like to sign for Roc Nation Sports.
Seth is certainly a top prize. He is enormously athletic and skilled and is likely the overall #1 pick in the NHL Draft on June 30 at the Prudential Center in Newark. He could also become hockey’s first African-American “crossover star” and with some careful marketing and promotion lead to a new audience for the sport. As one writer noted, the combination could make hockey “cool” again after its season was devastated by a long lockout.
All three of Jones sons took up hockey when he was playing for the Nuggets and the family lived in the Denver suburbs.
“All of the kids played street hockey. When it got cold, all the kids said they were going inside to play ice hockey,” the dad said. “Just being a sports guy, growing up playing basketball, football and baseball, it didn’t matter what sport they played. Sports are meant to be fun. Kids learn camaraderie and teamwork and stuff like that.”
It helped that the Nuggets and Colorado Avalanche shared a weight room, and the elder Jones received advice from Avalanche captain Joe Sakic. Seth quickly became a standout. This season, he led the United States to the World Junior Championship in Russia was officially named the No. 1 North American prospect for the National Hockey League
Jay-Z has already signed Robinson Cano and has been linked to Victor Cruz, Nerlens Noel and now Jones.

Metta World Peace’s son selling Dwight Howard jersey
The Los Angeles Lakers season has come to a close in disappointing fashion, and it appears that Metta World Peace’s son is reacting accordingly. World Peace posted a photo of a collection of stuff that he claimed his son is selling because he wants to buy a pair of $8,500 sneakers.
“My son is trying to sell all this for a pair of shoes! $8,500″ World Peace wrote along with the photo you see above. “I told him to get a job. This kid is nuts!”
Included are some basics that a kid who is looking to make a buck would try to sell a keyboard, a guitar, some shoes. Oh yeah, and it also appears his Dwight Howard jersey has been thrown into the mix.

Jason Collins Jersey Sales Popular On Wizards Online Store
Days after Jason Collins came out as the first openly gay professional athlete in a major sport, talking heads have been quick to debate the significance of the action. In the real world, however, fans have been eager to let their money do the talking for them.
The Washington Post’s reports sales of Collins Washington Wizards jerseys have dominated the franchise’s “personalized” section in its online store. Every single personalized jersey sold at the Wizard’s store Monday was reportedly a “Collins 98″ garment.
Collins’ number, 98, is no accident, a fact that’s only recently come to light. In a Sports Illustrated article published Monday, the athlete reveals he selected the jersey number as a secret and “small gesture of solidarity” with the gay community. With his choice, Collins subtly honors Matthew Shepard, a 21-year-old Wyoming college student who was kidnapped, brutally beaten and left for dead in 1998.
“When I put on my jersey,” Collins writes, “I was making a statement to myself, my family and my friends.”

CBS Houston Blogger Sparks Outrage For Questioning NBA Cheerleader Too Chunky Figure
A blogger for CBS Houston has been skewered by disgruntled readers this week after asking if an NBA cheerleader is “too chunky” to wear skimpy clothing.
In the NBA playoff series between the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Houston Rockets, blogger Claire Crawford commented on the appearance of Thunder cheerleader Kelsey Williams. Crawford wrote that the cheerleader is a “pretty blonde” but claimed that the young woman’s “pudginess” was being criticized “by some folks in OKC.”
“[If] she’s comfortable wearing that tiny outfit and dancing for NBA fans, then good for her,” Crawford wrote. “Besides…not every man likes women to be toothpick skinny. I’d say most men prefer a little extra meat on her bones. Am I right?”
However, despite this concession, a poll attached to Crawford’s blog post encouraged readers to judge Williams’ figure. Backlash to Crawford’s post was swift, with many readers expressing outrage at the blogger’s comments.

Dennis Rodman thrown out of bar for telling everyone how nice Kim Jong Un is
Dennis Rodman is back from his visit to North Korea where he made a friend for life in Kim Jong Un. And if you thought that you had heard the last of Rodman and his love of the North Korean leader, well you were mistaken.
Rodman decided to visit the hotel bar at the Time Hotel on Sunday where he had more than a couple of drinks and spent his whole time telling anyone who would listen that Kim Jong Un was a nice guy.
The problem for Rodman was that no one wanted to hear about Kim Jong Un. And that eventually led to Rodman reportedly being escorted out of both the hotel and the hotel bar.
He was at the bar at Serafina for four hours,” says a witness. “He kept saying what a nice guy Kim is, and how Kim just wants to talk to President Obama about basketball. He was waving around a signed copy of the dictator’s huge manifesto, telling everyone they should read it.”
Added the witness, “Dennis was making a total jerk of himself. He wouldn’t stop about Kim Jong Un, and he wouldn’t let anyone talk to him about shutting up, or what an oppressive country North Korea is. Eventually he was escorted out by the bartender.”
