Cam Newton Signs Largest Rookie Deal With Under Armour
Under Armour has signed former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton to a shoe and apparel deal that is the largest deal ever given to an incoming NFL rookie. Newton’s deal surpasses the one Reggie Bush got in 2006 from adidas and is in excess of $1 million. The deal “seeks to capitalize on both Newton’s fame in college and his future potential.”
Under Armour will unveil a whole collection of Cam Newton Auburn items, including jerseys with his name on the back, as well as football and training gear, including a signature shoe line. Under Armour beat out Nike for Newton’s services but Cam was already familiar with the click-clack product after wearing it at Auburn. Former LSU defensive back Patrick Peterson is the only player in this year’s draft class that Nike has signed so far.
