Braylon Edwards Say The 49ers Cut Him
Braylon Edwards was a big playoff contributor with the New York Jets the past two seasons before signing as a free agent with San Francisco this past offseason. However he won’t be getting an opportunity to help the NFC West-winning 49ers in the playoffs. Edwards, on his official website, braylonedwards.com, announced Tuesday that he’s been waived from the team.
“I was released today by the 49ers due to my injury that required more time to rehab and hasn’t allowed me to re-sync with the offense,” Edwards’ statement read. “I wish the 49ers organization the best of luck during the Playoffs. I will be working hard this off season to strengthen my knee and prepare for the 2012 season. Thanks for your continued support and for being such loyal fans.”
Because of his banged-up knee, Edwards was able to play in only nine games for the 49ers, who finish their 2011 NFL regular season against the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. He produced just 15 catches for 181 yards and no touchdowns.
