Arizona Diamondbacks Ryan Roberts Lives In Team Club House
Arizona Diamondbacks second baseman Ryan Roberts decided in this economy he should try to save a little of his paycheck and what better way than to call the team clubhouse home. Roberts recently promoted from the Diamondbacks Triple-A club in Reno, told the story of how he was saving himself money on rent, groceries, and cable TV by staying over after the games had ended. The problem was Roberts wasn’t allowed to be collecting free rent from the Reno Aces clubhouse.
“You just couldn’t let anybody see you,” Roberts said. “After the game, I’d sit on the couch in my uni until Bugsy (Reno manager Brett Butler) would leave, so everybody would think I was just hanging out. Then I’d shower up and hang out with the cleaning crew.”
Roberts decided that with his family staying in Phoenix, since he didn’t make the club out of spring training, he thought he would save on his bank account because the Reno clubhouse had all he needed. The fridge had plenty of bottled water and Vitaminwater along with sandwich supplies and snacks in the kitchen. Roberts even decided to have some of his teammates over for a sleepover as they played PlayStation all night long.
