Akron T-Shirt Causes Stir When Seen On LeBron James
A T-shirt design tying Akron to the Miami Heat for hometown hero LeBron James has caused a stir and buzz after the NBA star donned it a photo then posted on his Twitter account. The design created by two University of Akron students says ‘AKRON’ in the same font used on Heat jerseys and features a flame shooting out of the ‘N.’
Co-creator Willie Harper said he had asked a friend to give James the shirt. James photo tweet received 40,000 of views and led to a swirl of Internet rumors that the shirt was a Nike product, but Harper said that’s not the case.
“I’m the culprit,” he said.
The photo shows James with a boy and girl and says, “Look who I ran into on my way to my kids camp. Cyrus and Leila from the lemonade stand.” The children raised $81.66 at a lemonade stand in Connecticut and mailed it to James for the LeBron James Family Foundation.
