NBA Reviewing Chris Paul & Rajon Rondo’s Verbal Exchange

Chris Paul and Rajon Rondo are two young guards that play with such intensity and carry a huge a noticeable chip on their shoulder, which is a small reason that these two of some of my favorite players in the NBA. That made me glad to see that their verbal exchange after Sunday’s game didn’t escalate into punches being thrown and was just left at that, verbal.

After the game Paul was able to get in what I thought was a backhanded compliment towards Rondo saying:

“Rondo is a lucky guy, to play with guys like Pierce, (Ray) Allen and (Kevin) Garnett. He is a great point guard and he’s a champion. It’s my hope to achieve that.”

Contrary to a lot of reports that have Paul trying to make his way to the Celtics locker room after the game Paul went to his Twitter account to clear some of the air;

“to clear this up I never came close to approaching the Celts locker room last [night]. Not sure where that’s coming from. Also me [and Celtics assistant coach Tom] Thibodeau never got in a shouting match. We talked. … [Too] much respect for him, crazy how it’s twisted.”

After Boston’s 97-87 victory, Celtics spokesman Jeff Twiss advised reporters before Rondo’s post-game address that “Rajon has requested you not ask anything about Chris Paul now, tomorrow, or any other time.”

The whole situation had vibe like I witnessing 1980’s NBA basketball all over again, which I loved and was so fond of. The NBA has now decided to review the events for possible sanctions.
