Michael Vick & Nike Are A Team Once Again
Michael Vick has signed an endorsement deal with Nike, according to Mike Principe, managing director for BEST, the agency that represents Vick. Principe would reveal no other details, but referred other questions to Vick’s personal agent, Joel Segal.
Principe announced the deal on stage during a panel discussion at the Relay Sports Sponsorship Symposium in New York. Principe was on a panel discussing athlete endorsements at the event, run by SportsBusiness Journal and SportsBusiness Daily. He said he was prepared for questions about endorsements for Vick and had decided to make the announcement during the discussion.
“Mike has had a great relationship with Nike and is excited to be part of the Nike team again,” said Segal, who negotiated the Nike deal as well as Vick’s deal to return to the NFL as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. Segal wouldn’t reveal any details of the deal, saying that Nike and Vick agreed not to discuss terms.
Vick will wear Nike shoes, gear and apparel. “He has always been a fan of the brand and looks forward to the relationship,” Segal said.
Vick had been a Nike endorser before, but the company dropped him in August 2007, after Vick was indicted on federal dogfighting charges.
Crack Rock School Continues Makeover It’s Roster
The Binghamton University adjunct lecturer Sally Dear, who accused the athletic department of giving preferential treatment to men’s basketball players and pressuring her to change her grading policy for players was dismissed Tuesday. Dear taught human development for 11 years, said she felt the decision was linked to her criticism.
Dear said that the university never investigated her claims and that she hoped the new SUNY chancellor, Nancy Zimpher, would pursue the matter.
“I’m being fired for being ethical,” Dear said. “I have no doubt about that whatsoever.”
Seven Binghamton men’s basketball players majored in human development last year, and Dear said she believed some of them received preferential treatment. Dear said other people in her department had been approached by members of the athletic department to change grades for athletes and done so.
“They know that people have been covering up for the athletes and not holding them to the same standard for other students,” Dear said. “They know that athletes who are not passing classes have been given independent studies to carry them through. Dear said she was not “a safe person to have in the department.”
The Binghamton continues to have it’s home makeover edition on campus as Binghamton Athletic Director Joel Thirer resigned later today.
Big 12 & Big East Meet In Yankee Stadium For Annual Bowl Game
The New York Yankees announced today that Yankee Stadium will host an annual college football bowl game between the Big East Conference and the Big 12 Conference, with the first game slated to be played at the conclusion of the 2010 college football regular season.
The yet-to-be-named bowl game will pit the Big East conference’s 3rd or 4th selection against the Big 12 conference’s 7th selection with no official date yet. The Bronx has played to memorable games though such as the “win one for the Gipper” match up in 1928. It will mark the first NCAA football bowl game in the Bronx since the Gotham Bowl on December 15, 1962, when Nebraska Cornhuskers edged the Miami Hurricanes 36-34, at the original Yankee Stadium.
A vote to approve the bowl game was passed by both conferences with a four-year agreement in place through 2013. The NCAA is expected to formalize the four-year bowl agreement in April, 2010. Should the Big 12 representative not qualify for bowl eligibility under NCAA guidelines, Notre Dame has agreed to take part in the Yankee Stadium bowl game against a Big East opponent, barring Notre Dame’s availability to participate.
Today’s news comes two months after it was announced that Yankee Stadium will host the Notre Dame-Army game on November 20, 2010, as well as a series of Army home football games vs. Rutgers in 2011, Air Force in 2012 and Boston College in 2014.
This is all the NCAA needs is another bowl game featuring the 7th best Big 12 and the 4th best Big East team in the Big Apple. It’s estimated impact will be $47 million for the city of New York but I don’t play with estimations in this economic climate.
NBA & ESPN To Show 100 Additional Live Games In UK, Ireland
I will continue to sound like a broken to get people to understand that David Stern does not care if your Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker or Pau Gasol of the world get hurt playing for their country in some FIBA tournament. Stern cares about the greenbacks and while one player might hurt an NBA teams chances of winning a championship he just sold 5 more million people on the NBA game in another country by such player playing for their country.
The issue is a non existence one when the current CBA contract expires. Stern’s latest move to capitalize on his global relationship was revealed when the NBA and ESPN announced today a multi-year agreement to add close to 100 “live” NBA games to ESPN in the UK and Ireland. In addition to the live games, ESPN networks will air the studio show NBA Fastbreak, the original series NBA Action and all-time great NBA games.
ESPN will tip off its NBA coverage on 6 October, live from The O2 arena in London, where the Utah Jazz will take on the Chicago Bulls as part of NBA Europe Live 2009 presented by EA SPORTS. The Jazz are also slated to take on Euroleague Basketball’s Real Madrid on 8 October in Madrid.
So “The Goon” can’t touch “Godfather” in the U.S. market but it the total opposite when talking about the global market. If it don’t make dollars, it don’t make sense. You gotta give it up to the crown prince.
Superman Adds 10 Pounds Of Muscles
Alright we already know Magic center Dwight Howard is a beast, but that beast just got bigger. Howard reported to training camp with 10 more pounds of muscles to help him face new foes Rasheed Wallace and Shaquille ONeal in The East. The 10 pounds of muscles put Howard’s frame at 275 pounds.
Howard the NBA’s Defensive Player of the Year said the added muscle wont be the only new addition to his game as he believes his 59 percent foul throw shooting will rise to the 70 percentile range. Howard shot 849 free throws, more than anyone in the league last season.
“I’m going to be better this season,” he said. “We’re going to be better. We fell short last season. We just want to win a championship now.”
Howard became just the fifth player in league history to lead the league in both rebounding (13.8 rpg) and blocked shots (2.9 bpg) in the same season. With a team around him that now includes Vince Carter, along with Rashard Lewis and Jameer Nelson, Howard knows that dominating around the basket may lead directly to that title he is seeking.
“My problem is not post moves because you can have a million of them, and if you get double- and triple-teamed, you can’t get them off,” he said. “It’s about being smarter and knowing when to pass out of them. It’s about putting the ball in the basket, however it gets there.”
You got 82 games for sure to show the NBA community that this just wasn’t talk.
Craig Ehlo Tells Bryon Russell To Stop Thinking About Jordan
Michael Jordan recently took some heat for his Hall of Fame speech at his induction ceremony. Many people took his speech as a moment to smack talk his opponents in what was supposed to be his moment of glory.
Bryon Russell was one of those people Jordan cited, claiming that he could guard Jordan after he retired the first time, only to get made into a poster by Jordan several years later in the very famous “non-push-off” from the 1998 NBA Finals. Naturally, that lead Russell to crawl out from under a rock and challenge Jordan to a one one contest.
“I’ll play his a- right now,” Russell told Yahoo! Sports. “This is a call-out for him to come play me. He can come out here in his private jet and come play. He’s got millions of dollars. He can pay for the jet. He can meet me at the Recreation Center in Calabasas. We can have Mark Jackson do the commentating. We can have Mitch Richmond do the officiating. We can put it on TV and see if Michael’s still got it.”
Speaking of rocks, Craig Ehlo who was the first NBA victim of a legendary Jordan shot decided to come out from under his and had some advice for Russell: Move on.
“I would tell Bryon, ‘Just let it go. It happened, and it’s a great memory. But you don’t want him to go out and embarrass you, and let it happen twice,” said Ehlo
Asked if minded that Jordan made no reference to him and Ehlo said,
“He’s doesn’t need to mention me. That shot holds its own water. It’s been on a Gatorade commercial and on ESPN Classic.”
What’s your favorite Jordan posterizing moment?
Cleveland Indains Fire Eric Wedge, Sympathy None
Seven years after it began, the Eric Wedge era of Indians baseball is over. Wedge and his coaches have all been relieved of their duties. They all however will remain on board for the remaining six games. The Indians, who will be on the hook to pay Wedge in the neighborhood of $1.3 million in 2010, are in the midst of an organizational review.
His staff includes pitching coach Carl Willis, hitting coach Derek Shelton, bench coach Jeff Datz, first-base coach Luis Rivera, third-base coach Joel Skinner and bullpen coach Chuck Hernandez.
With a 64-92 record entering Wednesday, the Indians are wrapping up their worst season since going 68-94 in 2003, which was Wedge’s first year at the helm. The club is in danger of finishing in last place in an American League Central. The Indians have never finished last in the history of the Central.
Wedge, the 2007 AL Manager of the Year, had been a frequent target of fan criticism throughout his tenure, after slow starts seem always to plague his teams. His Tribe teams went a combined 73-96 in April. That same season was his only division title and playoff appearance, the Indians finished one win shy of the World Series.
Among the 39 full-time managers in Tribe history, Wedge ranks fifth in wins, third in losses and fourth in games managed. Wedge has compiled a record of 560-568.
PREDICTION OF THE YEAR
Seattle Mariners announcer Mike Blowers decided to have some fun on Sunday and called his shot. Not only did Blowers pick of Matt Tuiasosopo as player of the game pan out, but he even predicted the at-bat, count, pitch, and location of his first major league homer…..AMAZING!!
Former Texas A&M Aggie Chuck Knoblauch Chokes Common Law Wifey
Chuck Knoblauch the former big league infielder, who played in five World Series with the Minnesota Twins and the New York Yankees, has been charged with assaulting his common-law wife, Stacey Stelmach. More specifically, he hit her in the face and then choked her in their Houston home.
Prosecutor Kari Allen explained the probable cause is that he arrived home and became upset with Stelmach. He then tried to leave, but because she was fearful of him driving, she kept the keys. That’s when Knoblauch attacked Stelmach, punching and choking her.
Lt. Bill Sala with the Memorial Villages Police said, “Choking does raise it to a felony in the third degree.”
Knoblauch once nicknamed “Fundamentally Sound” has many blunders to his name, in 1999 he began to have difficulty making accurate throws to first base, a condition sometimes referred to in baseball as “the yips” or “Steve Blass Disease”. During one game, an errant throw sailed into the crowd and hit sportscaster Keith Olbermann’s mother in the face. He was reassigned to left field by manager Joe Torre, never to return to his old position. he was also one of more than 80 players who were accused of using performance-enhancing drugs in the 2007 Mitchell Report on baseball’s steroids era. Knoblauch later acknowledged using performance enhancers.
A judge set Knoblauch’s bond at $10,000
Michael Crabtree Signs!
Michael Crabtree has signed with team $5 Footlongs of Subway for $750,000 grand. Marketing agent Mike Ornstein says he has made NFL receiver enough money in endorsement deals that the still-unsigned first-round draft pick won’t be pressured to play football for a while.
“He has made over 750 grand in marketing dollars. It is not that he doesn’t want to play, but he is not under the gun to,” Ornstein said.
Ornstein signed Crabtree last spring with independent agent Peter Miller for marketing work, and has signed deals with Subway, Jordan Brand and trading card companies Upper Deck, Topps and Panini America. NFL agent Eugene Parker represents Crabtree for playing contract work. Ornstein said he and Miller are not involved in what have been described as contentious contract talks with the 49ers. Still, Ornstein allowed, he could have done more deals for Crabtree if he had already signed with the 49ers.
“We are not able to do much marketing for him right now because he is not playing,” he said.
No More Agent Zero

2-1-0 BLOW
At the Washington Wizards media day at Verizon Center, DeShawn Stevenson was showing off his Lincoln Memorial and Gilbert Arenas, who has missed all but 15 games the last two seasons thanks to three operations on his left knee, was making claims that he planned on being a serious player this year.
He vowed not to be resemble the player who was “goofing around” in his previous eight seasons, when he assigned himself nicknames, blogged religiously, put on practice exhibitions whose videos went viral, showed off his “phenomenal swag,” and generally turned himself into a colorful and popular character.
“When I was entertaining and playing, all you guys focused on were my words. Now I’d rather that you guys just focused on my basketball. So I’d rather take the gimmicks out and just play basketball,” Arenas said during a nearly half-hour interview session.
The three-time All-Star maintained a less joking tone, more jabs at how he believed he was portrayed in recent years, and even sharper jabs at Eddie Jordan, who preceded newly-hired head coach Flip Saunders.
“I don’t want to entertain anymore, that player is gone. I don’t do that anymore. I just want to go out and play.”
In discussing his satisfaction with Saunders, who both acknowledge has spoken to him regularly and at length throughout the off season, Arenas weaved in digs at Jordan, fired 11 games into last season and now the head coach in Philadelphia.
“Besides my high school coach and Lute Olsen [at Arizona], actually, he was the only one I’ve ever had conversations with more than once,” he said of Saunders, hired after the conclusion of the Wizards’ 19-63 season, in which he played just two games. “It surprised me, especially when I read in the paper that he’d stay away from me, like I had the Ebola virus.”
Arenas, 27, said that he embraced the idea of being a leader, because after Jordan deemed him too young for the role five years ago when the coach first arrived, he turned down every subsequent request to be one.
Blow The Whistle On DeShawn Stevenson
At media day for the Washington Wizards, guard DeShawn Stevenson showed off the newest Lincoln Memorial in the District of Columbia.
Nice Ink work though.
Warriors Monta Ellis Say He Can’t Play With Stephen Curry
With NBA camps getting under way or about to most team are gearing up for photos and interviews across NBA cities with media days. That was the case in Oakland as everyone came to hear what forward Stephen Jackson was going to say about that trade demand he made.
But it was Monta Ellis who stole the show with what he had to say. Ellis was asked what he thought off playing alongside rookie Stephen Curry, and he responded that the two guards weren’t going to be able to play together.
“Us together? No,” Ellis said. “Can’t. We just can’t. … Just can’t.”
Someone then jumped in and said to Ellis that coach Don Nelson say you can.
“They say you can?” Ellis repeated. “They say you can … but you can’t. I just want to win and you’re not going to win that way.”
Nelson had said on that he envisioned Ellis and Curry playing together despite their collective lack of size. Nelson said that the team planned to do a lot of scheming to help Ellis and Curry at the defensive end.
“You can’t put two small guys out there and play the one and the two. You’ve got big two-guards in the league. You just can’t do it. Yes, you’re going to move up and down but eventually the game is going to slow down. You can’t do it.”
Its upsetting to hear such comments before Ellis has actually seen what Nelson has come up with. Just three years ago the Warriors made the playoffs, two years they missed the playoffs however they where for fighting for the last playoff spot right up until the last week of the NBA season.
Last year was a different story when not even a month after Ellis signed a six-year, 67 million contract extension, he lied to his employers that he had torn a ligament working out. It was later revealed . Now he has audacity to call out Nelson coaching philosophy through the media. The Warriors have more than one storm brewing without one single ounce of sweat dropped in training camp.
A Real Angel In The Outfield
Last night I was sitting in a bar with some friends when we looked at the TV ESPN did a live cut in on the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim clinching their fifth American League West title in six years with an 11-0 romp over the Texas Rangers in Angel Stadium.
But in one of those rare moments the hair on my arm stood up watching them celebrate with their fallen Angel Nick Adenhart. He was the 22-year-old pitcher who was killed along with two friends in a car crash on April 9, just four days into the season.
The Angels jogged to the center-field wall, where a picture of Adenhart in mid-pitching motion has been affixed since the tragic crash. Players bowed their heads, tapped Adenhart’s face, and some poured beer over his head.
“Nick Adenhart should be here celebrating with us,” center fielder Torii Hunter said. “But the good Lord took him. Now, we’re just celebrating in his name. He’s a very important part of the team. We’re playing hard for him. Trust me, he’s here in spirit and in love.”
The Angels have advanced to the playoffs in six of the last eight years and winning the World Series in 2002.
“This one is special because we’re one short,” pitcher Joe Saunders said of Adenhart. “We miss him. We wish he was here with us. This season is dedicated to him. We’re celebrating for him and for his family. We’re trying to win this thing for him.”
Somehow manager Mike Scioscia kept this team together and they responded with heart and determination.
USC Tailback Stafon Johnson Hurt In Weight-Room Accident
Sports Grind Entertainment sends its prayers out to Stafon Johnson and his family.
University of Southern California tailback Stafon Johnson underwent seven hours of surgery after he suffered a throat injury while weightlifting. Johnson is in critical, but stable condition.
Johnson, a senior from Compton, was bench-pressing with a spotter in Heritage Hall’s weight room when the bar slipped out of his right hand and fell at an angle onto his throat. Johnson reportedly spit up blood through his mouth and nose. USC’s athletic trainers and emergency personnel rushed to the scene, and Johnson was taken to a local hospital, where he was undergoing surgery.
Johnson led the team in rushing in 2008 and has been something of a goal-line specialist this season. He leads USC with five touchdowns and has rushed for 157 yards in 32 carries, a 4.9 yards-per-carry average this season.
The NCAA for once better show the world it does indeed have a soul. If Johnson makes a full recovery and chooses to play football again, the NCAA should allow Johnson to use his redshirt, medical redshirt or just make an exception to their rule for once without any hesitation. The first priority is Johnson’s recovery but if he wants to show the world what a real comeback story is, then the NCAA better not stand in his way.
SGE will defiantly keep you updated once we hear anymore details on Johnson’s situation and his road to recovery which we hope is a speedy one.
If you’d like to mail a card for support here is the address.

Candy Man Married King Kong Kardashian
Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar “Candy Man” Odom and reality TV starlet “King Kong” Khloe Kardashian tied the knot on Sunday. The couple were married at a private residence in Beverly Hills, amazingly they found a residence that could house King Kong.
Odom’s teammates Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, and Kobe Bryant attended the ceremony, along with Lakers coach Phil Jackson to make sure it was real. Here’s a roster of some of the celebrities that where in attendance:
Kelly Osbourne, Baron Davis, Jillian Barberie-Reynolds, Ryan Seacrest, Brittny Gastineau, LaLa Vazquez, Kenny Smith, Babyface, Lara Spencer, Adrienne Bailon,”Sugar” Ray Leonard, and newest Laker teammate Ron Artest.
Absent though where three A-List guests, the three children Odom had with his former longtime girlfriend, Liza Morales. Morales probably not to keen on being kicked to the curb.
Vindication
The New York Yankees have made it back where they believe they belong, the postseason, with a division flag to accompany their full head of steam.
With their 4-2 victory over the Red Sox on Sunday gave the Yankees a three-game sweep of the Red Sox. They finished 9-9 against Boston this year and that’s startling since New York lost the first eight match ups The win gave the Yankees a 100 wins on the year but more importantly they clinched the American League East for the 16th time in franchise history, their first division title since 2006. In front of a standing crowd of 47,576, the Yankees win secured home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.
To work so hard from February and reach the goal of being the best team in the American League East is a testament to everyone from the coaching staff, training staff, players, front office coming together as a group.
The “Old Guard” of Derek Jeter, Andy Pettitte, Jorge Posada and Mariano Rivera knows what lies ahead in pursuit of the Yankees’ 27th World Series title and first since 2000. For the rest, the adventure is about to begins.
Rough Day At Work Causes Owens To Lash Out At Rodney Harrison
Sunday was a rough day for Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrelll Owens as Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints came to Buffalo and his team another loss 27-7. Owens streak of 185 consecutive games with a catch ended, his first game without a catch since his rookie season in 1996.
Then as Owens was making his way up the tunnel, a hometown fan decided to help T.O. get his popcorn ready. T.O. was struck in the face and chest by a large bucket of popcorn thrown from the stands, he didn’t catch that bucket either.
Owens made his way to the media room where reporters where trying to get him to criticize Trent “Captain Checkdown” Edwards or the coaching staff. He responded by giving short and dismissive answers but his discontent was evident.
“I’m just going with the plays that are called,” Owens said repeatedly.
During the NBC Sunday Night Football pre-game show analyst Rodney Harrison reiterated that he thinks Owens is “a clown.”
“He’s more concerned with his own stats than the team’s success,” Harrison said.
Owens responded on Twitter by rebuking and taunting Harrison about the former Patriots safety’s suspension in 2007 for violating the performance-enhancing substances policy.
From his Twitter account he tweeted:
“I could less about Rodney Harrison! Anybody tht using steroids, yes STEROIDS rodney, is a cheater & cheated the game!”
“Is tht Y u used steroids b/c u were worried about ur stats or ws it b/c u were losing it? Lol! U’re a loser & a cheater? Got any steroid …”
“Hey rodney! Send me sum steroids 2 the Bills facility next week!”
That’s a rough day, rough enough for Owens to be in denial, when he tweeted a follower of his that he, “didn’t drop any balls 2day, just b/c a ball touches my hands doesn’t mean i dropped!”
I present the jury the above evidence.
Baylor Has To Bear Down Without Robert Griffin
Baylor University quarterback Robert Griffin will miss the rest of the season of his sophomore year after sustaining an isolated tear to his ACL in his right knee, a huge blow to a team that had big expectations based largely on Griffin.
He sustained the injury in the first half of the Bears’ 68-13 victory over Northwestern State on Saturday night. He remained on the ground for several minutes and a silence came over the stadium, it was only broken whe the Baylor students started chanting his name.
Griffin stayed in till halftime and was 13-of-19 passing for 226 yards with three TDs before. He watched the second half from the sideline. Griffin accounted for 28 TDs (15 passing, 13 rushing) as an 18-year-old freshman last year. The Bears came in hoping for their first bowl since 1994 and the 15-year drought matches Duke for longest for any team.
The Big 12 opener is October 10 at Oklahoma.
Smithson Valley Grad Propels Cardinals To NL Central Crown
The St. Louis Cardinals took their first step to reaching the World Series last night by winning the National League Central Division title. An accomplishment I’ve been waiting for since spring training underwent. What better way than to have a career moment from Smithson Valley High School alumni Jason LaRue in last nights win over the Colorado Rockies 6-3.
LaRue’s shining moment came when he snapped a 3-3 tie with his first home run since May 7 and his first RBI since June 28, a blast that came on the first pitch of the seventh inning from Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez. Two innings earlier LaRue, 35, entered the game after catcher Yadier Molina was felled by a foul bunt off his left knee.
“I always wanted to be a part of something like this, to experience what this is like, to feel the anticipation of getting into the postseason,” said LaRue, who never stepped onto the postseason stage with the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals and last season’s Cardinals. “And to have a part in it like I had … you can’t write a script any better.”
A thrilling win over the Rockies secured the Cardinals’ fourth division championship in six years, ensuring that the two-time reigning champion Chicago Cubs cannot catch the rival NL Central Champion Cardinals. It’s the 22nd outright regular-season division or league championship in franchise history. Best of all, the Cardinals did it the way they wanted, on the field. St. Louis is back on top, where the franchise always belongs.
Rather than mob one another on the field, the Cardinals carried their celebration into the visitors’ clubhouse, where 12 first-time playoff participants were given first toast.
“It never gets old,” said Albert Pujols, who is going to the playoffs for the sixth time in his nine Major League seasons. “This is what you play for. This is what you train for. This is what you get yourself ready in Spring Training for 30-some games — to be able to get to the postseason and play in October and have the opportunity to be one of the final [teams] to be in the World Series.”
Following the 2007 season, general manager Walt Jocketty was dismissed, replaced by John Mozeliak and its at this moment I want to personally apologize to John Mozeliak for the heat he has taken. Thank you for making me a part of this.
This is special.
Ichiro Draws Line In Sand
For the first time in his illustrious career is Ichiro Suzuki was ejected from a game. It’s his first time Ichiro has been ejected in his entire professional career, that spans his time with the Mariners to the Orix Blue Wave of the Pacific League in Japan.
It happened in the top of the fifth inning of the Mariners’ eventual extra-inning 5-4 loss to the Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Ichiro took three consecutive pitches from Blue Jays left-hander David Purcey. All three pitches were called strikes. After the third one, Ichiro backed away and then took a few steps back, stuck out his bat, leaned over the plate and drew a line in the dirt, indicating that he thought the pitch was outside.
Without hesitation, plate umpire Brian Runge gave Ichiro the heave-ho. That’s a cut and dry situation
even though replays showed after the ejection that the third strike was on the outside corner.
Another streak the Ichiro ejection broke, was the Mariners bid to become the first team since the Twins of 1994 to go through an entire season without having someone ejected.
Warren Sapp Says Cowboys Are “Not Tough”
Warren Sapp, an analyst on Showtime’s Inside the NFL, unleashed his thoughts on this week’s show about the the Dallas Cowboys’ home loss to the New York Giants last Sunday.
“They’re not tough. The Cowboys do not like being punched in the mouth. The Baltimore Ravens walked into their stadium, the old Cowboys stadium, with a hundred of the old Cowboys around the place and they thought it was going to be this grand closing and they punched them right in the mouth and the Cowboys did not want to stand up to it.
“And you talk about Greg Ellis, Chris Canty and Tank Johnson coming off that D-line and you leave DeMarcus Ware over there by himself. I’ve been that guy when you’re by yourself. They slide the line to you and you get what you had the other night, zero sacks, zero turnovers and a loss on the scoreboard.”
Personally I’ve been a fan of Inside the NFL since the early 80′s when Len Dawson and Nick Buoniconti held it down by themselves and they had segments weekly segments of ‘Where are they Now’. I was ready to walk away when HBO did so that was until I found out Sapp would take part of the shows rebirth and that forced my hand into subscribing to Showtime. There’s no sugar coating it, he tells it like a future Hall of Famer, NFL Defensive Player of The Year, Pro Bowler, Super Bowl champion and the second-highest career sack leader for a defensive tackle sees it . Sapp is dead on with his latest assessment of the Cowboys.
Spurs Named Sporting News Team Of Decade
Sporting News named the San Antonio Spurs the NBA team of the decade and Gregg Popovich NBA coach of the decade.
The rest of the honors where:

- Team of the decade: Spurs
- Game of the decade: Game 4, 2008 NBA Finals, Celtics 97, Lakers 91
- All-decade first team: G Steve Nash and Kobe Bryant, F Tim Duncan and LeBron James, C Shaquille O’Neal
- All-decade second team: G Allen Iverson and Dwyane Wade, F Dirk Nowitzki and Kevin Garnett, C Yao Ming

I think the list is strong except for the executive and game of the decade. San Antonio Spurs R.C. Buford should have taken the honor over Dumars and the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals Game 4, Lakers 74, Spurs 73.
Slingin Crack Rock,Or You’ve Got A Wicked Jump Shot
Binghamton University released five more basketball players on Friday, a day after star player Emanuel “Tiki” Mayben was nabbed for selling crack cocaine and kicked off the team. Coach Kevin Broadus announced that D.J. Rivera, Malik Alvin, Corey Chandler, Paul Crosby and David Fine were released because “they are not toeing the line.”
Mayben’s arrest is the third legal problem for a player since coach Kevin Broadus, a former Georgetown assistant who made a name for himself by gambling on talented troublemakers, took over the program in 2007. Former player Miladin Kovacevic, left a classmate in a coma after a barroom brawl in May 2008. In November, Alvin, was charged with stealing condoms from a Wal-Mart and assaulted a 60 year old woman on his way out.
The Bearcats went 23-9 last season and won the America East titles and won a school-record 11 straight games before losing to Duke in the first round of the NCAA tournament.
Binghamton is part of the State University of New York system, which is led by chancellor Nancy Zimpher, who was the president of the University of Cincinnati when men’s basketball coach Bob Huggins was pressured to resign in 2005 after the program had a history of low graduation rates, suspensions and arrests of Huggins’ players.
What’s next to come out of Binghamton, Richard “Richie the Fixer” Perry appearing on campus? Check the hot tubs.
